Serious security lapse in Rahul’s Yatra compelled him withdraw the march today after walking 4 kilometres at Banihal, J& K
The former Congressman president Rahul Gandhi who is finishing his 3500 kilometre Bharat Jodo Yatra from from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on 30 th January has to discontinue his today’s Yatra in between after covering merely four kilometres’ distance from Banihal to Anantnag, Kashmir after witnessing serious security lapses and his security personnel immediately advising him to withdraw the Yatra.
Congress leader after withdrawing his Bharat Jodo Yatra for today held a press conference in Kashmir and accused the Kashmir administration of withdrawing his security completely, despite the fact that it should have guaranteed perfect security arrangements. In a press conference Congress leader while terming a serious security lapse during his Bharat Jodo Yatra said that he has to cancel his Yatra for the day because security arrangements completely collapsed unfortunately.
Police personnel who were supposed to look after the security and manage the crowd were nowhere to be seen said the Congress leader. ” It is Jammu and Kashmir administration’s responsibility to guarantee security. I hope security will now be arranged for the remaining days of the Yatra said Rahul Gandhi while addressing his brief press conference further adding that he will be answering to the questions of the media on concluding day.
After Rahul Gandhi finished his brief press conference terming the security breach as unfortunate which the J& K administration should have guaranteed with not a single policemen present even to pull the rope to control the crowd after he came out of the tunnel walking with supporters having acknowledged quite a warm welcome Congress leader Jairam Ramesh castigated the ruling saffron party for fanning communalism and disintegration in the country by way of social polarisation and political dictatorship.
He said that the Yatra has nothing to do with the political prospects of 2024 national elections, nor would talk of Gupkar alliance or what happened after the revocation of Article 370 etc but its sole aim is to establish amity, brotherhood, secularism amd unity in the country that has been shattered by the ruling party said Jairam Ramesh. Giving details of the Yatra in J& K, Congress leader Jaitam Ramesh who is accompanying Rahul Gandhi since day one in this Yatra said that the Yatra will enter the Kashmir valley today finally culminating at Srinagar on the last day where all the leaders of 13 opposition parties have been invited to participate as a token of solidarity of the opposition unity.
Before the alleged breach in Rahul Gandhi’s security took place, the leader of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and former CM Omar Abdullah joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra at Banihal, adding that the Rahul Gandhi led march is not being carried out for the image makeover of the Congress leader but rather to change the situation and atmosphere of the country. The Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed today after a day’s rest due to Republic Day from Banihal to Anantnag.
Though Rahul Gandhi withdrew his march due to security reasons in the strife torn terrorist infested state as advised by his high profile security personnel, the other Congress leaders and workers covered the entire twenty kilometre Yatra till Anantnag today.
