Senior citizens Registration mela on 25 th September on International Sr. Citizens day at police stations

The Delhi Police has again shown their concern towards the safety and security of the senior citizens of the national capital territory as they are considered to be the most vulnerable lot especially those living alone during daytime when their children are out on jobs.

The additional commissioner of police ( crime) IPS Shibesh Singh has urged Delhi senior citizens living alone or with their spouses to register themselves in their area’s respective police stations on 25 th September where the Delhi police is organising ” Registration Melas” for senior citizens on the ocassion of International senior citizens day.

According to an official circular issued by the office of joint commissioner of police crime, Delhi signed by IPS Shibesh Singh Additional Commissioner of Police l, Crime, with copies sent to special commissioners and joint commissioners of all zones including CP, DP, all the DCPs have been directed to organise Registration Melas in all police stations of Delhi for senior citizens living alone or with their spouses or with children etc to ensure their maximum presence with the help of the Non Governmental organisations.

The circular states that wide publicity should be given to these senior citizen Melas on 25 the September to ensure maximum presence of senior citizens in such Melas and the detailed list of their names and addresses be forwarded to senior citizens security cell of Delhi Police headquarter by 28 th September, 2021.

There had been incidents of murders of senior citizens in Delhi since decades but the spurt in such crimes have been witnessed very often, especially these days. The Delhi Police is therefore trying its best to ensure the safety and security of this vulnerable section of the society through such serious exercises.
