Savitri Devi of Isoti village, Garhwal grievously injured by man eater

The incidents of man eater attacks are continuing unabated in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand with the forest and wild life department literally doing nothing except giving lame excuses.

It’s almost become a day to day affair with village women, children, senior citizens and even youngsters being brutally killed and grievously injured by man eaters with no end to the brutal predator killings.

In the recent past several people have been killed and grievously injured in villages n adjoining areas of Devprayag, Maletha, Pabo, Lansdowne, Rikhnikhal block, Pithoragarh, Almora, Nainital and it’s surrounding vicinities but little have been done to provide them relief except stereotype statements of VIPs, MLAs n ministers and a small amount of fixed monetary compensation, nothing concrete.

On Saturday, a woman named Savitri Devi of Isoti village of Pauri Garhwal was severely injured who was lucky enough to free herself from the grip of the man eater after bravely fighting and hitting the man eater with a scythe.

The immensely terrorised woman Savitri Devi with deep wounds of the man eater jaws bleeding profusely said that she would have died as the man eater had almost dragged her to the nearby bushes to make her it’s prey but her scythe finally helped her with which she attacked the man eater on the face, compelling the carnivore leave me running inside the jungle in panic.

The panic stricken injured women was later on taken by ambulance to the nearby hospital for treatment. The terrified villagers especially women and senior citizens said that this man eater is active in the area since long. There have even been incidents of the predator pouncing on motorcyclists and the women going towards the agricultural fields. They have complained to the forest and wild life department number of times but of no avail. The angered residents of Isoti village and the adjoining areas have demanded caging of the man eater or killing him by hiring professional hunters before it is too late.

The grievously injured Savitri Devi was going to the nearby farm when a man eater pounced on her and dragged her to the nearby bushes by gripping her right hand with the jaws piercing the teeth deep inside.

The state government should honour this brave woman with a prestigious cash award to send a message across in the entire country especially in Uttarakhand. Her name should also be recommended to the centre for President’s prestigious Award.
