Rs Two lakhs gone to winds and the pathways of a Chowbattakhal village in doldrums

In Uttarakhand’s several villages, the developmental works particularly those related to pathways and roads lot of negligence or deliberate inefficiency is witnessed by either the pradhans or the contractors as their primary intention allegedly remains focussed on hibnobbing with each other and pocketing the larger share of the allocated fund for the local developmental works.

A senior bureaucrat in Civil aviation department of the central government Sh.Subhadh Badola , now retired, originally resident of Badolgaon, block : Pokhra Gram Sabha Jajedi, Pauri Garhwal under the jurisdiction of Chowbattakhal assembly constituency who is in his village these days has complained about the extremely shattered and shabby condition of the road of his village built under the PM Grameen Sadak Yojna.

According to Badola the Uttarakhand government is making mockery of this road by playing with the lives of the villagers.

Terming the misuse of Rs two lakhs and branding it as an example of open corruption Subhash Chandra Badola said that the road in the village is in such a sorry state of affairs – it seems that the amount of Rs. Two lakhs have been siphoned off allocated to repair, renovate a fifteen metres portion of the village road. He asked just imagine what will be the condition of the children and other commenters going to schools or elsewhere on foot. He added that a concerned villager has planted several trees, but no cage has been provided by the development block through the village head.

The road is completely blocked, requires a buttress (stone wall).

Expressing his serious concern over the sorry state of affairs in the village Badola warned that this is an open invitation to untimely death…???

He urged to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the area MLA Satpal Maharaj who is also a cabinet minister to kindly intervene in this matter and set right the situation in the widespread public interest.
