Rs SIX LAKHS AS MONETARY COMPENSATION AGAINST THE DEATH OF A HUMAN BEING BY WILD ANIMALS (maneaters)

The Uttarakhand government will now give Rs 6 lakh as financial compensation to the bereaved family after the death of a person by wild animals and Rs one lakh to the grievously injured person with only Rs 15000 to those with simple injuries. This decision was taken today in a cabinet committee meeting chaired by the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It may be recalled that barring the ongoing monsoon season there had been good number of human casualties in maneater attacks in various districts of Uttarakhand with forest and wild life departments becoming mere spectators.

In addition to this decision the cabinet committee chaired by chief minister Dhami took unanimous decisions on thirty other issues pertaining to health, education, tourism, municipalities, nagar panchayats, etc.

This was disclosed by the chief secretary of Uttarakhand Dr. S. S. Sandhu.

The cabinet decisions taken in the meeting are as following :

Three villages were added to Narendra Nagar Municipality. The population density is more than 150 persons. Chamoli’s Ghat block has been made a Nagar Panchayat. Extending the limits of Kirtinagar, 32 families were added to the urban area. Nagar Panchayat was made Munsiyari and Rudraprayag municipality was also expanded, some more villages were added. Tourist place Bhimtal will now be a municipality. The posts of Assistant Number Officer were abolished. Human wildlife conflict relief distribution rules 2023 approved. 15,000 for the casually injured. 1 lakh to the seriously injured, Rs 6 lakh in case of death by an attack of wild animal. Mukhyamantri Uchha Shodh Protsahan Yojana will work as a challenge fund. Projects up to 15 lakh will be taken up. 18 lakhs can also be taken in some special cases. In this, along with faculty, students will also do research work. Awareness camps will be organized under the Dev Bhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme. In this, research work will be done in different districts. Experts will train the students in this. Three thousand will get training in one year. Nurses will be recruited every year in medical colleges under medical education. Till now the rules of UP were implemented in the sports department, but now the state will come up with its own rules soon. 50 percent discount will be available in transport department buses.
