Rs 200 cut in Gas cylinder rates and additional 75 lakh Ujjwala connections sanctioned by BJP led NDA government with PM terming it a gift of Raksha Bandhan
In view of the fast approaching elections in five states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana in 2023 and the general elections in 2024 the ruling political dispensation is in no mood to confront the anger of the consumers who’d been suffering under the skyrocketing price rise not only in petrol, domestic gas, diesel but the essential commodities as well touching high altitudes. A a first relief to Indian middle and lower middle class the government led by BJP has given a gift in the form of lowering the price tag of domestic gas cylinder by Rs 200 in a single go with prime minister Narendra Modi terming it as a gift on Raksha Bandhan, a festival of pleasure. The price of the consumers of Ujjwala scheme will get the total rebate of Rs 400. Rs 200 subsidy and Rs 200 the price cut given by the government. The central government claims that there are 9.5 crore consumers as beneficiaries under Ujjwala Scheme who will get the maximum price cut. In addition to this the government has also sanctioned 75 lakh more connections under Ujjwala Scheme. The lowering of the rates will come into effect from August 30 , 2023 reveal the news reports. In his contradictory message on X , earlier twitter prime minister Modi said : The festival of Raksha Bandhan is symbolic of enhancing the happiness in the family. After the domestic gas rates coming down my family’s sisters will be eased and their life would be more convenient. I pray to All mighty that all my sisters be happy, healthy and prosperous tweeted prime minister. The minister for petroleum and Natural Gas including housing and employment Dr. Hardeep Singh Puri said that the prime minister Narendra Modiji has taken the bold step of reducing LPG cylinder price by Rs 200 per cylinder for all LPG consumers ( 33 crore connections) . PM Ujjwala Yojana consumers will continue to get the subsidy of Rs 200 / cylinder in their accounts wrote Puri on X. In addition to this concession the government has also approved 75 lakh additional LPG Ujjwala, connections which will take the total PMUY beneficiaries to 10.35 crores said union minister Dr. Puri. It may be recalled that the opposition I. N. D. I. A. has been targeting the ruling political dispensation on skyrocketing prices of petrol, gas and essential commodities. However, this reduction of Rs 200 straightaway will adversely impact their anti government strategy on inflation. At present the per gas cylinder cost is Rs 1053 in the national capital, Delhi with cost in Kolkatta at Rs. 1079, in Mumbai Rs 1052.50 and Rs. 1068.50 in Chennai etc. There had been constant increase in prices of gas cylinders by oil marketing companies in the recent past. It remains to be seen as to what positive impact would this downfall in gas, prices put on inflation and subsequently on the chances of BJP led government in elections in five states likely to go to polls in 2013. In a lengthy reaction on X, earlier twitter the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote : when votes are decreasing, the election gifts are being distributed ! The ruthless Modi government which loots the hard earned income of the people is today showing artificial sympathy with the countrymen. Why had they not remembered about the affectionate gift when the gas cylinder of Rs 400 was being sold at Rs 1100 during the last nine years. The BJP government should know that the election lolypop won’t work after making the countrymen suffer for the last protracted nine years. Your sins of a decade will not be washed by this election lolypop gift. The Congress government for the first time is to provide relief to people suffering from back breaking inflation by giving cylinders at the rare of Rs 500. It has already commenced this scheme in Rajasthan. The suffering countryman’s frustration and anger can’t be brought down by giving them the relief of Rs 200 in the 2024 general elections. Your fear from INDIA is good Modiji. The people have already made up their minds. In order to counter inflation showing the exit door to BJP is the only alternative wrote Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on X platform while reacting to the lowering of gas cylinder prices by the government.
