Revamp in Congress. Surjewala is In charge of MP and Mukul Wasnik takes charge of Gujarat. Ajay Rai is new UP chief.
As the state and general elections of 2024 are nearing , the main opposition party Congress has started revamping its organisation at various state levels changing its important office bearers and making younger party central office bearers as state observers to ensure that all goes well and the party is revived at the decentralised levels. On Thursday a huge revamp has been done in the party organisation by giving party’s general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala the charge of Madhya Pradesh as senior observer. He has been given this new responsibility of MP going to polls shortly in place of senior leader J. P. Aggrawal who was accorded the charge few months ago.
Similarly the senior party leader and general secretary Mukul Wasnik has been accorded the responsibility as the observer of Gujarat. Here after the party’s bad defeat the observer in charge Righu Sharma had resigned accepting the moral responsibility for his defeat. Deputing Mukul Wasnik in Gujarat means the party is really serious to do something constructive and cohesive in Gujarat considered to be BJP strong hold. Moreover, in Gujarat the BJP and Congress have always been the immediate rivals of each other and AAP the new entrant failing badly in the lady elections. In Uttar Pradesh where Congress has been reduced to a negligible position with even Party general secretary in charge Priyanka Gandhi not able to show her magic during the 2019 general elections n assembly polls, the present Congress President of UP Brijlal Khaabri haz been replaced by a new incumbent namely Ajay Rai. Now, whether Ajai Rai will be able to prove his mettle in the largest state where BJP and SP, including BSP matter tremendously, only time will tell in future. It may be recalled test in view of the elections in few states and general elections the Congress party after Bihar and Jharkhand wanted to bring a “Bhumihar”, president in Uttar Pradesh and Ajay Rai is being considered as a strong bet. In Bihar the Congress president is, Akhilesh Prasad Singh and in Jharkhand Mithilesh Thakur is the Congress chief.
