Resettlement and rehabilitation of Joshimath residents at Pipalkoti is an attempt to misguide people says Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samitee leader !
In view of the increasing subsidence and subsequent cracks in more than nine hundred houses with the situation going out of hands in the minus degree temperature in Joshimath situated at more than 6000 feet height, the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that his government has already searched alternative safe land at Pipalkoti to settle these sufferers who’d lost their houses and sources of income.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami catagorically stated yesterday that 65 to 70 percent of the people in Joshimath whose houses have received cracks and further widening are leading normal lives further stating that Chardham Yatra is going to commence after four months.
The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was in Delhi busy meeting the home minister Amit Shah the other day acquainting him of the over all situation of Joshimath and the action taken report to resettle and rehabilitate the sufferers of the gateway to Badrinath, Hemkunt Sahib, Auli n Valley of flowers.
The chief minister said that the central government has assured him of all possible help i. e. F
financial assistance and other support.
The government has so far declared about 40% of Joshimath as being adversely affected by land subsidence n subsequent cracks in buildings including houses – while 60 percent population and area fully safe and secure reveal news reports.
However, the displaced residents of Joshimath are not at all satisfied with the decision of the chief minister terming it as attempt to allegedly create confrontation with the people of Pipalkoti the place that has been fixed as the vicinity to house the displaced residents of Joshimath.
In a statement issued after the decision of the Uttarkhand CM to rehabilitate the displaced Joshimath residents at Pipalkoti by building for them new houses, the president of Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samitee Atul Sati has said that by arranging Pipalkoti as an alternative land to house the displaced residents of Joshimath, the Uttarakhand government has while on the one hand annoyed the Pipalkoti residents by snatching from them the only playground they had to carry on their sports activities, on the other hand it is their ( govt’s) pre- strategic clever trick to create confrontation between the Joshimath residents and the people of Pipalkoti.
He added that the residents of Peepalkoti has already expressed their disenchantment and and resentment not allowing people of Joshimath settle at Peepalkoti.
He warned the people of both Joshimath and Peepalkoti not to get entangled in the ill conceived designs of the powers that be and get misguided under the guise of rehabilitation further urging them to join them in their ongoing dharna against NTPC Tapovan Vishnugad hydropower project.
He added that prior to this, the displaced villagers of Reini Gaon, the village of Chipko founder n leader Gauri Devi were not allowed to settle by the Subhai villagers.
Opposing the settlement and rehabilitation of Joshimath residents elsewhere, the leader of “Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samitee”, said that Joshimath residents themselves are not prepared to settle elsewhere as not only the people of Joshimath but entire Uttarakhand are travelling on the same boat which is being controlled by such a crazy thinking phenomenon ( vision less politicians) who doesn’t exactly know about the depth of the water they are sailing in nor the capacity of the boat to survive etc. This means that the boat had to sink ultimately, if not today, may be tomorrow !
