Renowned and outspoken journalist with 42 years experience behind, Vinod Dua passes away. Shock waves in media fraternity
Celebrated journalist 67 year old Vinod Dua who was admitted in Apollo hospital in critical condition on ventilator after being shifted from a hospital in Gurugram few days ago breathed his last today.
The information was given by his daughter Mallika Dua through her Instagram post.
According to the post of Mallika Dua : Our irreverent, fearless and extraordinary father, Vinod Dua has passed away. He lived an inimitable life, rising from the refugee colonies of Delhi to the peak of journalistic excellence for over 42 years, always, always speaking truth to power. He is now with our mom, his beloved wife Chinna in heaven where they will continue to sing, cook, travel and drive each other up the wall. The cremation will take place tomorrow at Lodhi crematorium at 12.00 noon.
It may be recalled that renowned and outspoken fearless journalist having been in active journalism for the last more than four decades in Doordarshan n NDTV and finally in his own you tube analytical news channel, a case of sedition was registered against Vinod Dua which later on got quashed from the apex court.
He and his wife had very bad time during Covid times with the latter becoming its victim and succumbing to the pandemic giving a huge jolt to Vinod Dua.
Though he was cured after being admitted for few months in a private hospital, but Dua was in and out of hospitals for treatment since then finally becoming critically ill. He was admitted in ICU in a Gurugram hospital few days ago in a critical state and then shifted to Apollo hospital being on Ventilator.
There were rumours in social media about his death refuted by her daughter Mallika Dua who requested one and all to pray for her Father’s recovery.
But unfortunately after prolonged struggle, being a fighter always, as quoted by his daughter in her Instagram post Vinod Dua finally passed away sending shock waves in the entire media fraternity.
In a condolence message senior journalist AU Asif c/o Chaturvediji while expressing their grief wrote : A fearless symbol of fourth pillar of democracy is no more. The media is poorer in his passing away. A journo who not only gave food for thought but also food for belly, would always remain alive in our hearts and minds. His evening walks in the lawns of the IIC are suddenly coming to mind. My homage to him! RIP.
