Red CNG bus of DTC catches fire in Mahipalpur with twenty passenger on board with some shops also being affected

A Delhi Transport Corporation’s, red bus number 9248 of GDP plying on route number 534/ 39 caught fire from the engine side at the back portion at Mahipalpur near Vasant Kunj this morning with tremendous smoke coming out damaging it entirely but fortunately no one in injured say latest reports. Nearly twenty passengers were commuting in the bus when the fire erupted. The impact of the fire was so much that few shops in South West were also affected by getting burnt according to officials. According to sources the driver of the bus and passengers were safely evacuated n there are no reports of any casualty or severe injury. In summers one can see DTC buses stranded on roads due to excessive heating of the engines but this fire that erupted all of a sudden in the air conditioned Red Bus further spreading and damaging few shops has indeed put a question mark on the TATA company’s credibility, with some passengers saying that had the bus packed with more passengers the fire could have been extremely fatal. However, till now no definite reason for the fire erupting in the bus has been ascertained. Meanwhile, according to TOI report the Tata Motors has issued a statement after the burning of DTC bus wrote : An unfortunate fir incident occured on one of the CNG buses in New Delhi. Fortunately there was no injuries to anyone. While we are unable to comment on specific pending investigation, we will extend out fullest cooperation to the authorities in identifying the cause. Tata motors is committed to offering safe and high quality vehicles for public transport, said the TATA MOTORS statement. Kindly recall that good number of Green n Red CNG buses were brought in Delhi by the then government of Congress led by Shiela Dikshit in 2010, Common Wealth Games. In Delhi there are in total 6.894 CNG buses as per the statement of transport commissioner Ashish Kundra.

  1. Sad incident but any machine need proper maintenance for safe , smooth and long service but anyone can see the poor (maintained) condition of these buses on the road. To blame the manufacturer is not correct without an investigation, for any Bus post waranty.
