TSR replaces TSR in Uttarakhand. Tirath is the new CM to be sworn in on Wednesday

The current member of parliament from Pauri Garhwal constituency n former cabinet minister of Uttarakhand, a hard core RSSite Tirath Singh Rawat has been named as the new, ninth chief minister of Uttarakhand after the exit of the outgoing CM Trivendra Singh Rawat.

He will be sworn in today evening at Raj Bhawan by the state governor Baby Rani Maurya. After the announcement of Tirath Singh Rawat’s name as the ninth chief minister all speculations have finally come to an end. The names of Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni, state higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat, union minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and state tourism minister Satpal Maharaj were doing rounds for the new CM inlieu of Trivendra Rawat in the media finally putting the curtain down.

It is believed that Tirath Singh Rawat is prime minister Narendra Modi’s choice. The Uttarakhand central observers, former Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh who is also the national vice president of BJP and general secretary in-charge of Uttarakhand Dushyant Singh have reached Dehradun to supervise the meetings of sixty seven BJP lawmakers to formally elect their new CM Tirath Singh Rawat to be sworn in this evening.

It may be recalled that the state assembly elections are due for 2022 and the party high command acting on the wishes of the rebels wanting to replace the present CM was constrained to bring in the new chief minister after several political churnings, as it had done earlier in the case of first Uttarakhand CM Dr. Nityanand Swamy being replaced by Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri changed by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank prior to the assembly elections.

There were number of complaints and rebellion against Trivendra Singh Rawat regarding inefficiency, arrogance and bringing down the party’s name and image, likely to lead to the BJP’s defeat at the hustings in 2022. Though extremely closed to union minister Amit Shah being his close henchman Trivendra Singh Rawat was finally shown the door as the BJP high command couldn’t risk the party’s loss in the ensuing elections. Tirath Singh Rawat’s political career spans more than three decades starting as a humble RSS pracharak from Lansdowne area of Garhwal, becoming the BJP MLA from Choubattakhal and subsequently minister in Uttarakhand government in previous tenures. He was however ditched and his seat given to Satpal Maharaj later on obliged in the parliamentary elections of 2019 given ticket which he won defeating Manish Khanduri of Congress. A politician with a smiling face carrying behind a good track record as a politician with impeccable integrity fifty seven year old Tirath Singh Rawat is in the good books of PM Narendra Modi and has finally been adequately rewarded as the ninth CM of Uttarakhand, though for a year till 2022.
