Rawat clarified, he never discussed on Cabinet reshuffle but of high command’s 18 point letter with Punjab CM
The veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat who is extremely busy these days on two fronts, one trying to resolve the Punjab crisis as an emissary of the party high command and two, his being proactive in Uttarakhand where state assembly elections are round the corner slated for 2022.
A leader with tremendous energy at the age of 73, Harish Rawat is these days in Chandigarh trying hard to resolve the ongoing faction ridden crisis between the Punjab CM Captain Amrinder Singh and his bete noire newly appointed state CM Navjyot Singh Sidhu. Today, he catagorically admitted that all is not well in Punjab Congress n the government as the crises continues despite the best efforts of the central party high command and his.
Rawat however said that things will be sorted out in the near future to the satisfaction of all. Kindly recall that the state elections are due next year along with with four other states including Uttarakhand the responsibility of which lies on the already burdened shoulders of party general secretary and former CM Harish Rawat. He is Chandigarh, for the last two days having first met the state Congress chief Navjyot Singh Sidhu filled by his meeting with Captain Amrinder Singh. He lauded the Punjab CM for his excellent performance as a state CM further adding that there are several good works done by him which has not been appreciated, but need to be lauded.
He said that the ongoing crisis within the party would be sorted out soon as difference of opinion between leaders dies not amount to serious differences which will be sorted out. While in Chandigarh a day before Rawat was entangled in a controversy in which he compared n lauded Navjyot Singh Sidhu and 4 working presidents with Punj Pyaraas inviting tremendous criticism from SAD leader Cheema finally seeking public apologies and saying that as a symbol of atonement ( Prayaschit) he would clean a Gurudwara in Uttarakhand. Meanwhile in a Twitter post Harish Rawat clarified that I am surprised to see a news in a section of media that I had met the Punjab CM to discuss matters pertaining to cabinet reshuffle.
This is not true, I had deliberated with him on two basic points, one related to the PCC president and another on a five point memorandum submitted by the four working presidents. He further said that my meeting with the CM was also with regard to the 18 point letter given by the central High command., to know as to what progress has been done in that context. We discussed on those points for three hours and am highly optimistic that a positive result will surely come out in wider interest of Punjab shortly. I want to absolutely deny the press reports and clarify that in this meeting nothing was discussed regard cabinet reshuffle as such decisions are taken by the national Congress president and I am sure that Captain Saab has till now not acknowledged any letter from her till now, wrote Harish Rawat.
Meanwhile there are reports that after the meeting with Harish Rawat in Chandigarh, cricketer turned politician, Punjab Congress chief Sidhu came to Delhi to meet Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi but had to returned back without a meeting as he was nit grated the appointment, despite his best efforts say news reports.
