Rahul, Priyanka, 65 MPs including nearly 370 Congress activists arrested against skyrocketing price rise. Some policemen injured !
The Congress party on Friday made the burning skyrocketing inflation its main issue of concern and hundreds of angered party leaders, workers and member of parliament were arrested by Delhi police and para military forces who had a hard time dealing with the extremely furious and agitated Congress workers, majority of them the Youth Congress activists with some policemen also injured. On Friday’s anti inflation and victimisation of Congress leaders demonstration especially the Gandhi family’s harrasment, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi broke n furious MPs climbed the police cardon n argued with the baton wielding policemen leading to their arrests from outside Akbar Road office as well as at Parliament street. In Parliament street about 65 MPs of Congress and both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were arrested and taken to Kingsway Camp police station and kept for over seven hours. Raising anti government and slogans against PM and its ministers etc hundreds of Congress workers led by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi and 65 MP including Salman Khurshid, K. C. Venugopal, Shashi Tharoor, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Mallikarjun Kharge etc were forcibly arrested. In all 65 MPs including Sonia and Rahul Gandhi and vociferous IYC president Sriniwas BV and 365 Congress leaders and workers were arrested. The Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi literally climbed iron barricades and confronted the police who also snatched her “Chunni”, with Priyanka squatting in front of parliament street police station as, Rahul did few days ago at Vijay Chowk. The Congress former chief Rahul Gandhi was surrounded by his, security personel and the crowd while being arrested raising anti inflation slogans, against the govt holding it responsible for making the lives of the countrymen cumbersome n in jeopardy due to steep hike in petrol, diesal and gas prices futher leading to all round skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. The agitation triggered one of the most serious political confrontation rather war of words with the prime minister Narendra Modi and Bhartiya Janata Party in recent days that comes close on the heels of multiple Congress leaders being questioned for several days in an alleged money laundering case. Rahul Gandhi termed it the death of democracy in India. Rahul said anyone who stands against this government and expresses their dissent against the ongoing dictatorship are arrested, victimised through ED, CBI n IT departments. Their sole agenda is to curb the opposition party leaders, voice against inflation and targetting of the opposition leaders by putting them in jails. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi in her tweet wrote : The cruel government which is imposing tax on flour, milk, curd etc is saying that there is no inflation. If there is no inflation then why is BJP so afraid when it sees the Gas Cylinder. How will you conceal this very fact after arresting us that the cylinder which was Rs 410 before 20 14 is today at Rs 1100. This, loot is called inflation tweeted Priyanka Gandhi further tweeting : The only and foremost objective of BJP is to capture power by threatening, deceit and betrayal and murdering democracy. Sanjay Raut n his family is being victimised because he is not afraid of the ill designs as above of BJP and confronts them bravely. These protest demonstrations were held in several states of the country with good number of Congress leaders and activists being arrested.
