Rahul Gandhi unveils the statue of former PM Rajiv Gandhi and inaugurates a photo exhibition based on the former PM’s life on “Sadhbhavna Diwas”, the birth anniversary of RG

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi today unveiled the statue of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and inaugurated the photo exhibition based on his life. Rahul Gandhi paid his richest floral tributes to his father and former prime minister Rahul Gandhi at the Indian Youth Congress headquarter on the ocassion of Sadhbhavna Diwas organised every year on 20 th July to celebrate his birth anniversary and pledge to follow his ideals and principles.
Indian Youth Congress organized many programs including blood donation camp and Rangoli exhibition on the occasion of Sadbhavna Diwas apart from hosting an exhibition on the life and works of late prime minister celebrated nationally as Sadhbhavna Diwas.
Late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was the architect of modern India, who worked towards making India strong and self-reliant as a result of which the country is still reaping the benefits of his foresighted vision. It was his foresight that has put India in the ranks of strong, modern nations.
Indian Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV said that “Hum Mei Hai Rajiv” meaning Bharat Ratna Shri Rajiv Gandhi is with all of us even today. Rajiv Gandhi ji, who became the Prime Minister at the age of 40, created modern India. He laid the foundation of Digital India and was the father of information technology and telecommunication revolution in India remembered till date by one and all for his outstanding decision to open the economy including bringing scientific n technological revolution in the country. On his initiative, the Indian telecommunication network was established, the network of telecommunications started from the city to the villages, so that the people of the village could also connect with the country and the world in terms of communication said Sriniwas PV. He added : In the eyes of the young Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the age limit to vote in the country was wrong, hence he took the initiative to ensure voting rights to the youth of 18 years n above, so that they become more responsible and empowered towards the contry towards national development and a significant participant in decision making of the country.
Indian Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV also said that former PM Rajiv Gandhi believed that science and technology need to be given special impetus in order to bring industrial revolution in the country and it was in this sequence, that he worked towards bringing computer revolution in the country including strengthening the Panchayati Raj system at the decentralised levels as well. Rajiv Gandhi believed that until the Panchayati Raj system is not strengthened, democracy would not succed to percolate at the lowest level. In was during his tenure only that a fool proof proposal of Panchayati Raj system was prepared n implemented at the decentralised level empowering rural people especially women community added IYC chief. Emphasising on the former prime minister’s special impetus on improving the education system, making it convenient for underprivileged sections of the society lauded him for laying the foundation of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in entire country imparting quality education to the children of underprivileged n economically deprived sections of the villages at the grass roots. At present more than 1.80 lakh students are studying in 551 Navodaya Vidyalayas opened in the country. Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji also encouraged youth and sports. He also said that Shri Rajiv Gandhi was and will be the hero of the country, and will continue to be known for his martyrdom, his ideas, and as the architect of modern India.
National In-charge of Youth Congress and AICC Co-Secretary Shri Krishna Allavaru ji said that India had touched the dimension of development under the leadership of Shri Rajiv Gandhi . He focused on the upliftment of every section and worked to strengthen them. Shri Rajiv Gandhi paved the way for all round development and also contributed in establishing peace and tremendously working hard against Aparthied globally.
