Rahul Gandhi LOP wasn’t invited to President’s dinner hosted in honour of the Russian president Vladimir Putin nor did he meet him

Sounds shocking that while the Russian president Vladimir Putin was on his thirty hours visit to India, New Delhi on the invitation of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and now back to his country Russia, the established constitutional norms regarding inviting the leader of the opposition to various official functions including the president’s dinner etc have been broken.

In the past it has been seen and experienced prior to 2014 that when ever the national head of a any country visited India the leader of the opposition used to be in invited in various official events including the dinner hosted by the then presidents and even the head of the foreign country were advised to meet the LOP and it did happen in the past during the tenure of the then PM’s Atal Bihari Bajpayee, Narsimha Rao, Dr. Manmohan Singh, I.K.Gujral, Mr. Devegowda and other former PMs but after 2014 this practice seems to have diminished said the leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi.

It may be recalled that the leader of the opposition carried the status of the full fledged cabinet rank minister and constitutionally entitled to meet the foreign head of the state but this time and on earlier occassions as well since 2014, this protocol has been violated said the senior journalist and the former editor of India Today Prabhu Chawla in a video going viral in social media.

This question is being raised by one and all in the socio political circles of the country with even senior Congress leaders making hue and cry over this important issue.
