Protest Candle March at Veer Chandra Singh GARHWALI CHOWK, New Delhi against the acquittal of the convicts in late Kiran Negi’s brutal murder n gangrape on 9 Feb, 2012 !
Good number of activists of various social organisations including the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat on Friday held a peaceful protest march at Veer Chandra Singh GARHWALI Crossing near Garhwal Bhawan in the evening expressing their tremendous anger, annoyance and shock over the recent judgement of honourable three judge bench of the apex court that acquitted all the three hardened criminals and murderers of an innocent 19 year old girl Kiran Negi a decade ago on 9 th February 2014 who was abducted, gang raped and brutally murdered in Rodhai village in Haryana, pouring acid in her eyes and ears and inserting a broken bottle in her private parts.
Raising slogans demanding re analysis of the SC judgement and admission of the review petition, putting the human beasts behind bars and sending them to gallows of death, the protestors holding candles in their hands marched from Garhwal Bhawan to the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwal Chowk, finally converging the protest amid traffic being jammed for several minutes at the crossing under heart police bandobast.
The former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat while speaking to the media expressed his shock and dismay over the apex court’s judgement though respecting it, demanding readmission of the review petition when filed and incarceration of the hardened criminals behind bars giving them the strictest of the punishment as per the laws of the land.
He questioned if the culprits have been set scot free, then where are the real convicts who gang raped the hapless girl n brutally lynched her.
The judgement clearly gives the impression that there is no justice for the poor and helpless said former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat.
He urged the honourable Supreme Court for reconsidering the case and bringing the culprits to justice at the earliest.
Good number of literary figures, journalists, political activists, women n youth participated in this protest candle march.
