PRIYANKA GANDHI TO ADDRESS TWO PUBLIC MEETINGS AT ROORKEE AND RAM NAGAR, NAINITAL ON SATURDAY

Better late than never. Finally the main star campaigner and leader of Congress party, Nehru Gandhi scion and national general secretary of the 135 year old Congress party Priyanka Gandhi is arriving in Uttarakhand on Saturday, 13 th April to address two public meetings and participating in road shows in favour of Congress candidates at Ram Nagar and Roorkee in Uttarakhand.

These are the plain areas and the strongholds of the minority community, farmers and people from lower echelons of the society including Dalits.

These are traditionally the Congress voters but usually the BSP candidates procure the sizeable number of votes during assembly n parliamentary elections thus intruding into the traditional votes of the Congress Party.

Yesterday, Prime minister Narendra Modi was in Rishikesh where he addressed a massive public meeting coming down heavily on Congress party and its leaders accusing them of dynastic politics and corruption, campaigning in favour of the BJP candidates viz Anil Baluni from Pauri Garhwal, Trivendra Rawat from Haridwar and Maharani Rajya Lakshmi from Tehri Garhwal.

Earlier he had addressed a largely attended public meeting at Rudrapur in favour of the Nainital parliamentary candidate Ajay Bhatt, union state minister of defence and tourism.

Not only the PM but the union defence minister Rajnath Singh and the national party chief J.P.Nadda had also addressed several meetings and held meetings in Haridwar , Kumaon n Garhwal divisions but from Congress’s side there were seldom any meeting by the senior Congress leaders. Even Kumari Shailja, who is the incharge of Congress in Uttarakhand didn’t held any such meetings as by senior BJP leaders. In fact the Congress candidates who are running short of election propaganda materials and money due to freezing of the Congress budget by IT and imposition of huge penalties are campaigning in their own with squeezed resources.

Priyanka’s meeting would be the first one but of little consequence unless she addresses more public meetings and holds road shows in Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar, Tehri Garhwal and in Kumaon region as well. But paucity of time probably is not permitting her to stay put and campaign in Uttarakhand extensively. Being a chief star campaigner she has to cover several other states of the country.

According to Mathura Prasad Joshi , Vice president of Uttarakhand Congress looking after the administration and organisational affairs, the party general secretary of Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is visiting Pirumadaar in Ram Nagar, Nainital and Roorkee, Haridwar at DAV College where she will address two largely attended public meetings.

Those who would accompany Priyanka Gandhi in these meetings and shall also address briefly are former CM and senior leader Harish Rawat, his son n candidate from Haridwar Virendra Rawat, Kumari Shailja, incharge Uttarakhand Congress , Karan Mahara , chief of Uttarakhand Congress, Yashpal Arya , leader of opposition and all the state office bearers including district presidents etc.

The state Congress leaders led by its chief Karan Mahara and Kumari Shailja today visited the public meeting venues and inspected the arrangements including held meetings with the local Congress leaders.

According to her itinerary on Saturday Priyanka GANDHI Vadra will reach Ram Nagar, Peerumadaar , Nainital and address the meeting in support of Prakash Joshi candidate from Nainital at 11.30 AM and from there she will come to Roorkee, DAV College grounds to address the public meeting at 3.30 PM in support of the Congress candidate Virendra Singh Rawat son of Harish Rawat.

The need for Priyanka Gandhi’s rally was felt after the successful public meeting of PM Modi’s at Rishikesh yesterday as the Congress candidate from Haridwar was declared too late and so is the candidate from Nainital. The Uttarakhand Congress observer Kumari Shailja alongwith State Party chief Karan Mahara and other office bearers visited Roorkee and inspected the arrangements. They claimed that thousands of Congress workers are participating in these rallies of their leader Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday which are going to be a grand success.
