Priyanka Gandhi comes to the rescue of stray dogs
Says they are the most beautiful creatures, they don't deserve such a cruelty
The Congress general secretary and Member of Parliament has come to the rescue of the stray dogs after the Supreme Court judgement against the stray Dogs issuing directives to the concerned authorities of Delhi and NCR to remove all dogs from Delhi and NCR localities to house them in shelters at the earliest sternly saying that these animals should not be returned back to streets.
The apex court gave two months time to arrange shelters for these stray dogs and put them there.
The municipal authorities of Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurugram etc have been instructed to ensure that all the stray dogs are caught, put in government shelters and sterilized ensuring that no dogs are returned back to streets.
According to the broad estimates there are around ten lakhs stray dogs in Delhi and NCR.
There have been tremendous online debates on the apex court’s judgement with people giving their comments for and against.
There had also been protests by the dog lovers near India Gate against the Supreme Court judgement.
The dog lovers say that the Delhi civic authorities have not enough land and shelters to keep these stray dogs and the agencies have never been serious and compassionate towards these voiceless creatures.
They never take the pain to sterilize these stray dogs or inject them with anti rabies injections which is their primary duty.
Some of them even asked as to where is the massive funds going – given for the anti rabies injections, medicines and shelters for stray dogs to Delhi Municipal corporation and the government veterinary hospitals. There should be a thorough probe into this scam saud the protesting activists.
Meanwhile, the Congress MP and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi came to the rescue of the stray dogs saying dogs are the most beautiful, gentle creatures, they do not deserve this kind of cruelty.
In a statement on X she said : The moving of all the city’s stray dogs to shelters within a matter of weeks is going to result in horrendously inhumane treatment of them. Enough shelters do not even exist to take them on.
As it is animals in urban surroundings are subjected to ill treatment and brutality. Surely there is a better way to manage the situation and a humane way can be found in which these innocent animals are looked after and kept safe as well.
Dogs are the most beautiful, gentle creatures, they do not deserve this kind of cruelty.
There have been extremely serious charges being levelled in social media by several dog lovers after the Supreme Court judgement saying that there is already a scam of dogs being sold to meat lovers outside Delhi and NCR clandestinely already going on and after this judgement these agencies will become more active, allegedly selling the stray dogs to the meat lovers against exorbitant profits.
The Animal Adoption and Rescue Delhi – NCR is of the strong opinion that the stray dogs present during night and odd hours in particular help in reducing the crime rate , they help in women safety tremendously and those families or their children feed their pets or stray dogs learn to be compassionate towards animals, voiceless creatures and thus passionate as well inculcating in them a feeling of compassion, kindness, generosity and patience.
