Priyanka Gandhi assures Assam women of Rs 2000 every month as Grahini Samman, 200 units electricity free, raising of daily wage to Rs. 365 n providing employment to 5 lakh people

The national general secretary of Congress Priyanka Gandhi today addressed a massive public meeting at Bordowa, Nagaon, Assam accusing the ruling political dispensation at the centre for allegedly selling the ONGC Refinery and other undertakings to the crony capitalist friends to oblige them which had been built by the Congress governments in the past for the development of the state, nation and granting sizeable employment to the people of the state.

While acknowledging the cheers of thousands of people assembled in the public meeting also addressed by the chief minister of Chattisgarh Bhupendra Singh Baghel, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that the Congress has given capable and pro people Assamese chief ministers like Hiteshwar Saikia and Tarun Gogoi who had provided employment on a mass scale to the Assamese people and did tremendous infrastructural development of the state including establishing harmony and brotherhood among the people irrespective of their castes, creed, religion and faith.

But unfortunately during the rule of the saffron party there have been divisions amongst the people of the state on caste and communal lines even weakening the Assam Gana Parishad leadership when it formed an alliance with it as the Bhartiya Janata Party always believed in betraying people and its political friends thus expanding its political base through unfair means and deception.

Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi while lauding the dedicated hard working women community of Assam assured them of raising their daily wages to Rs. 365 blaming the BJP government of first assuring the tea state women workers of raising their daily wages to Rs. 350 and then asking the Tea Estate owners to approach court so that their promise is not implemented and tea workers stand betrayed thus siding with the rich tea estate owners.

Priyanka Gandhi said that such is the character of this party of betraying the poor people and backing out of its promises.

Congress general secretary, amid cheers from the massive crowds that comprised of cross section of the people, tea workers, working class and people from the minority sections assured that the Congress party has resolved to fulfil five promises being given to the Assamese people in case the party wins in the ensuing elections. The five promises of the Congress party are (1) providing employment to five lakh people ( 2) raising the daily wage of tea workers who are mostly women to Rs 365 at all costs, a part payment of which will be borne by the state government, (3) non implementation of CAA (4) payment of Rs 2000 to each n every house wife of the state termed as honour to women, ( Grahini Samman ) and ( 5) free electricity up to Rs. 200 unit every month. The announcement made by Priyanka Gandhi were cheered by thousands of participants in the rally raising slogans hailing her.

Accusing the BJP of giving false promises Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that the Assam government of BJP has given false promises of granting jobs to 25 lakh people but it has not given jobs to even five lakh youths and women. Congress does not believe in giving false promises that’s why it has come to the conclusion that if its government comes in Assam it will provide five lakh employment annually but for sure said Priyanka Gandhi.

She catagorically said that if the people of Assam want to save their cultural heritage, secular unity, their existence and the future of their children they should vote for Congress and give way to political stability and a pro people n pro poor government.

Chattisgarh CM Bhupendra Baghel lauding the Congress party and his government in Chattisgarh said that not only has his government got thousands of farmers rid of their loans as assured in its election manifesto it has also purchased grains from farmers at the rate of Rs 2500 per quintal instead of Rs 800 n 1000 in other states.
