Congress general secretary, In-charge of Uttar Pradesh has been taken in police custody today while going to Agra to meet the bereaved and anguished Dalit to part with their grief who’ve lost member namely Arun Balmiki in police custody. Hundreds of Congress followers and members of the Congress including people from the lower strata of the society were following the cavalcade of Priyanka Gandhi heading for Agra raising slogans against the Uttar Pradesh govt and CM UP including law enforcing agencies protesting against the arrest of their leader Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi as well as Arun Balmiki allegedly killed in police custody. However, after two hours of discussions with senior police officers she was allowed to go to Agra say news reports.
Several police officers of Uttar Pradesh police had surrounded the car and cavalcade of Priyanka Gandhi while taking her into preventive custody.
The situation at the time of her arrest was very panicking with hundreds of Congress supporters raising slogans hailing their leader. Just a week ago Priyanka Gandhi was arrested by the UP police at Sitapur and held in preventive custody for a day and a half when she had gone to part grief with the anguished families of farmers in Lakhimpur Khiri who were allegedly killed by a vehicle owned by the son of state home minister Ajay Mishra presently behind bars. In a tweet Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi wrote in Hindi : The lynching if Arun Balmiki happened in police custody. His family is asking for due justice. I want to go to meet the bereaved family. What makes Uttar Pradesh govt afraid ? Why am I being stopped? Today is Bhagwan Balmiki Jayanthi. The prime minister made big talks on Mahatma Budh but are attacking on his sermons tweeted Priyanka Gandhi. In her earlier tweet Priyanka Gandhi wrote : What kind of justice is to kill somebody after repeated thrashing and torture in police custody ? The tortuous death of Arun Balmiki in police custody is highly condemnable. The Uttar Pradesh govt has worked against the sermons of Lord Buddha on his anniversary. The incident should be probed by highest authority, family given adequate financial compensation and guilty policemen be realty with severely as per law tweeted Priyanka Gandhi.
The youth Congress chief BV Sriniwas said in a tweet that after arresting Priyanka Gandhi, the days of Uttar Pradesh government are numbered. The Congress party tweeted in hindi : The BJP can imprison misusing its authority but it can’t discourage our morale and courage. Our war against injustice for justice will continue unabated. We will relentlessly continue to fight against injustice says the Congress twitter.
The chief spokesman of Congress Randeep Singh Surjewala in his tweet expressed his deepest condolences and wrote : BJP’s tool kit – Death of Arun Balmiki in police custody, stopping Priyanka Gandhi to meet the anguished family of deceased Arun Balmiki, Priyanka being taken to Lucknow after being arrested, Justice to Arun Balmiki’s family thousands of kilometres away , Our fight and struggle will continue tweeted Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala.
