Prime Minister gifts agriculture projects worth ₹42,000 crore to farmers – Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi participates virtually

Dehradun, October 11.
State Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi today participated virtually in the launch of agricultural projects worth over ₹42,000 crore for farmers across the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Harbans Kapoor Memorial Hall in Garhi Cantt.
Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, and Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor were also present on the occasion. Hundreds of farmers and gardeners from various districts of the state enthusiastically participated in this program held in Dehradun.
Prime Minister launches “PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana” and “Pulses Self-Reliance Mission”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana” and “Pulses Self-Reliance Mission” from the National Agricultural Science Complex, Pusa (New Delhi).
Along with this, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of more than 1100 projects related to agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and food processing.
The “PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana” aims to develop 100 low-productivity districts in the country. It will run for a period of six years, with a budget provision of ₹24,000 crore per year.
Under the scheme, district-level action plans will be prepared in coordination with NITI Aayog, agricultural universities and 11 ministries, which will help in improving agricultural productivity, crop diversification, irrigation and storage facilities and providing easy credit to farmers.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi, while expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said that the selection of Chamoli and Almora districts of Uttarakhand in this scheme is a matter of pride for the state.
He said, “The Prime Minister cares as much about the farmers as he does about the soldiers on the border. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, India has achieved historic achievements in agricultural innovation, value addition, and increasing farmers’ income.”
Minister Joshi said that Uttarakhand has 5.51 lakh hectares of agricultural area and the geographical conditions of the state are very suitable for the production of fruits, vegetables, spices, flowers, mushrooms and honey.
He said that while the plains are leading in food grain production, there are immense possibilities for horticulture development in the hilly areas.
He further said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is running special schemes for the promotion and conservation of local crops – Mandua, Jangora, Amaranth, Bhatt, Rajma and Lawn Paddy.
Minister Joshi said that under this programme, drones have been distributed to 102 women groups and arrangements have been made for their training, so that women farmers can strengthen their economic condition by farming with modern technology.
In the program, Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that in the last 11 years, the Prime Minister has done unprecedented work in the fields of agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry.
Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor, Organic Council Vice President Bhupesh Upadhyay, Agriculture Secretary S.N. Pandey, Additional Secretary Rural Development Jharna Kamthan, Rural Development Commissioner Anuradha Pal and other officials were present on the occasion.
