Prime minister announces withdrawal of three farm laws after apologising to agitating farmers

The prime minister Narendra Modi has today made a surprise announcement in his televised address while extending his greetings on pious Prakash Parv and opening of Kartarpur Sahib corridor by declaring repealing of all the three agricultural laws that led to thousands of farmers agitating at the pan India level for about more than a year claiming hundreds of lives of agitating farmers.

The prime minister said that the constitutional process for repealing these three agricultural laws would commence in the forthcoming parliament session opening in the last week of this month. He appealed to all the agitating farmers to wind up their protests and go to their homes satisfied to be with their families.

Prime minister Narendra Modi’s all of a sudden announcement has put one and all in great surprise especially thousands of agitating farmers with former Punjab chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh extending his gracious thanks and gratitude.

The prime minister in his morning televised address while making this happy announcement said that the government tried its best to convince the farmers and their leaders that these three agricultural laws are for their good and well being but they could not be convinced.

Hence he is withdrawing them for which the constitutional process will start in the coming parliament session. He lauded his government for doing so much for small and medium farmers of the country by way of doing record purchase of their agricultural produce, depositing 1 lakh 80 thousand crores in their acounts directly, giving them high quality seeds, manure, agricultural equipments, insurance benefits and improving their lot including opening record number of purchase centres buying record amount of their produce giving them good prices not done before during the last several decades etc.

Prime minister Narendra Modi said that there are ten crore small and poor farmers in the country having merely two hectares of agricultural land to survive, the size of which diminishes further after expanding of the family.

These three farm laws were designed to improve their lot and make them highly prosperous and economically self reliant as the government has also strengthened the rural agricultural sector to the core he added.

His sudden announcement on the ocassion of Prakash Parv reminiscences of his previous announcements of de monetisation and GST that had put the entire nation is a state of shock, but this news seems to be to be topsy turvy to the earlier announcements as thousands of the agitating farmers and their respective organisations will not only heave a great sign of relief but will also consider it their historic victory which claimed several lives of agitating farmers and putting them in a state of immense jeopardy.

It may be recalled that there was tremendous pressure on the BJP led NDA government since the last more than a year, with all meetings with the Union Government going awry with Farmers representatives not coming to terms with them on three agricultural farm laws and agitating farmers unions’ being adamant on withdrawal of these three farm laws including demanding enactment of a new law on MSP holding the government responsible for favouring the ultra rich as the cost of the farmers of the country.

The prime minister announced that he is earnestly withdrawing these agricultural laws brother farmers protracted wishes with a clean heart appealing them to wind up their protests and be in the midst of their families on the ocassion of pious Prakash Parv.

Political analysts are saying that this is purely a timely intelligent damage control exercise in view of the assembly elections to be held in five states of the country in the initial months of next year.

Meanwhile expressing their immense jubilation over the prime minister’s announcement to repeal three farm laws the agitating farmers of Singhu border led by renowned farm leader Rakesh Tikaith said that ” No question of leaving before parliament action “, .
