PRESS CLUB OF INDIA STRONGLY REACTS TO THE YOU TUBE for WITHDRAWING THE VIDEO OF PC OF EC OF A JOURNALIST

The Press Club of India has strongly reacted to the You Tubes’s recent action in removing the video from a channel run by professional journalist Poonam Aggrawal.

In a statement issued here by the management committee of the PCI, the press body appealed to all the members and media organisations to unite and stand together to press forward the struggles against such onslaughts on Press freedom.

The Press Club of India which has been consistently taking up such causes standing with journalists and members of the club when they are in crisis said that in the video withdrawn senior journalist Poonam Aggrawal was merely reporting the press conference of the EC which was the public event in the alleged manipulations in the electoral rolls of various states in the recent past.

The PCI statement adds that the grounds of the removal of the video as per the You tube version amounts to harrasment and cyberbullying.

It claimed that the news item shown in the video encourages others to share non public personal information.

The Press Club of India strongly opposing this action said that it is ludicrous to describe the reporting of the public event as ” harrassment and cyberbullying”.

Such an act by the YouTube reflects a disturbing pattern that falls in line with the increasing attacks on journalists and their fundamental duty of reporting the truth, the growing intimidation, harrasment and legalised action such as these said the PCI statement expressing its strong reaction.
