Press Club of India and Sachin Pilot strongly condemn the attack on PTI journalists and demand stringent action against the culprits

The largest club of more than six thousand active journalists Press Club of India has in strongest possible terms condemned the attack on the PTI journalist, reporter Ajeet Shekhawat and video journalist Dharmendra Kumar who were in their official assignment covering the protest demonstration when an independent MLA candidate was being arrested for thrashing an SDM in Tonk district. Taking an extremely serious view of this attack on journalists covering a protest while on official assignment the Press Club of India urged the state government and the concerned administration to come down heavily on the culprits and register cases against them under strictest sections of the law putting them behind bar with immediate effect.

While condemning this incident strongly terming this highly uncalled for the Press Club of India in its message on X wrote: The Press Club of India strongly condemns the attack on @PTI_News reporter Ajeet Shekhawat and video journalist Dharmendra Kumar while they were covering a protest following the arrest of Independent MLA candidate in Tonk district, Rajasthan. We urge the state government and the local administration to take strict action against the culprits. The Press Trust of India should also take up the case with the Rajasthan government and provide all sorts of assistance to them @RajGovOfficial.

Meanwhile the former deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot too came in support of the victim journalist and video journalist of PTI attacked in Tonk district with their camera allegedly broken and snatched.

In a hard hitting condemnable message demanding immediate stringent action against the culprits Sachin Pilot, Congress leader of Rajasthan and former union minister wrote on X : I condemn the assault on PTI journalist Shri Ajeet Shekhawat and cameraman Shri Dharmendra Kumar who were on duty and covering the incident in Tonk district today. This misconduct toward journalists who were performing their duty is unacceptable and strict action should be taken against those involved. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace.
