Preliminary function of 100 years of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha held at Garhwal Bhawan, New Delhi
As a prelude to the final celebration of 100 years of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha, the biggest representative body of the inhabitants of Garhwal, Uttarakhand living in Delhi and National Capital Region to be held on 25 th November at Talkatora, Stadium in New Delhi, a preliminary event was celebrated at Garhwal Bhawan on Sunday in which important dignitaries of Uttarakhand, the Union minister of state for defence and tourism Ajay Bhatt, the member of parliament from Pauri Garhwal Tirath Singh Rawat, Tehri Garhwal MLA Kishore Upadhyay, K. C. Pandey, renowned social activist, entrepreneur, Tripen Singh Bhandari entrepreneur, activist, H. P. Rawat, Congress leader, several dignitaries from various fields representing cross section of the society also graced the occasion by their pivotal presence.
There were food stalls of Uttarakhand’s delicacies and various traditional dance competitions including felicitations of senior citizens and their spouses were also held in this ocassion.
The music was arranged by none other than popular Uttarakhand’s music director Mr. Chouhan and his wife known as nightingale of Uttarakhand Kalpana Chouhan sung melodious songs making women dance merrily. Several other prominent singers of Uttarakhand like Shiv Dutt Pant, Manoj Kataith, Mr. Arya, melodious women singers etc impressed one and all by their mesmerising performance.
Being a single day colourful celebration and today being Sunday the attendance of the participants was tremendous with audience becoming restive at times and people not getting seats, compelled to roam around outside the auditorium at times.
Various women groups were seen dancing to regional melodious songs merrily outside the Garhwal Bhawan auditorium. The food stalls of Uttarakhand’s delicacies served delicious food and people were thronging at stalls enjoying the Pahari traditional meals.
The final event will be held on 25 th November at Talkatora Indoor stadium with a special Uttarakhand’s delicious food mela.
Thousands of people of Uttarakhand origin are expected to participate in this centenary function of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha. The minister took the round of the photo exhibition depicting various activities box Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha during the last 100 years including various food stalls.The programme was anchored by President GHS Ajay Bisht and general secretary Mangal Singh Negi. The Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha management had earlier planned to spend Rs. 90 lacks on the show but is now trying to squeeze its funds to Rs. 50 lakhs revealed the president of the Sabha.
The chief guest union state minister of defence and tourism lauded the outstanding initiative of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha for so meticulously and enthusiastically organising such a grand event commemorating the the 100 years of GHS formed in 1923 in Lahore and registered officially in the year 1941 by our ancestors. He said such events give everyone an opportunity to forget our differences, stature – big or small and bridges the gap of discrimination in whatever way. Ajay Bhatt while counting various, achievements of GHS said that he had been here earlier too when it had organised the Ramleela in which all the characters were women having come right from Rudraprayag to Garhwal Bhawan performing outstandingly. While assuring of his total cooperation union minister of state for defence Ajay Bhatt heartily lauded the immense socio cultural contribution in Delhi and in Uttarakhand and said it has proved to be a great catalytic agent to help the people in distress in odd and challenging times in different ways. He hoped that the largest representative body in Delhi will continue to play a vital role for the good of Uttarakhand in future as well culturally, socially, economically and academically for the poor, hapless and the needy of our society.
Lauding the efforts and dedication of Uttarakhandies union state minister of defence Ajay Bhatt said it is because of their hard work, intelligemce, academic background and integrity that today they are on top positiins in the government serving the nation with immense dexterity and transparency.
