POSSIBILITY OF AICC & SOME STATE CHIEFS’ RESHUFFLE IN THE OFFING IN VIEW OF THE PARTY’S DEFEAT IN SEVERAL STATES
Though the Congress party has almost doubled its tally in Lok Sabha elections as compared to its previous tally of 2019 it is not at all satisfied with the electoral losses it suffered in certain states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Chattisgarh,Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh where it has performed extremely poorly as compared to what it performed in 2019 parliamentary elections. The veteran leader and party chief, octogenarian Mallikarjun Kharge is now all set to plug loopholes in the organisation and revive it for the future battle in certain states likely to go to polls. If we take the case of Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, in particular, including Madhya Pradesh, the Congress party has lost on almost all seats despite the hard fact that in Delhi and Uttarakhand the BJP won hands down for the third consecutive term and in Himachal Pradesh despite the Congress forming its government in assembly elections. In Madhya Pradesh too the CONGRESS party is the biggest sufferer with the saffron party winning on 28 seats out of total 29. According to latest news the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge is all serious to rejuvenate and revive the party organisations in all the states especially in states where assembly elections are round the corner at the organisational as well as grass roots levels. He will hold significant interactions and meeting with the state functionaries including the office bearers and the party workers at the grass roots to ensure that not only the state organisation is revitalised but if need be the state functionaries changed as well for the best. According to some reliable sources the party high command may reshuffle the AICC as well as the state party chiefs assessing their organisational skills and the role played by them during the recently held national elections analysing their performance equating them with the seats they have brought for the party. The performance of party chief of various states and other office bearers will specifically be assessed to come to the definite conclusion whether they should be changed or replaced by their junior, though capable or better choices. The state which performed outstandingly like Karnataka, Telengana and even in Uttar Pradesh etc will be dealt with jubilantly and may be rewarded by adjusting some of the senior leaders in AICC. The issue of reviving the Congress party at various states and AICC level came up for discussion at the Congress Working Committee meeting held soon after the results of the party arrived. There are reports that though the revival of the party organisation is an urgent need of the hour but in view of the elections to be held in Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Delhi the party seems to be in a hurry to quickstart its strategy and revamp the organisation in order to ensure that the party gears up for the assembly elections at the earliest. The party top leadership is seriously concerned about the losses it suffered in Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and needs to change the state leadership including revamping of the entire party organisation in the state. There are also reports of the change in leadership in Uttarakhand where the present chief Karan Mahara couldn’t lead to the party even winning a single seat out of total five and leading to the party’s third time defeat with even not able to encash on the anti incumbency factor, due to wrong selection of candidates n poor party performance. He proved completely effectless in terms of countering factionalism in the party and proving successful to club together the various leaders of the faction ridden groups within the state Congress. There are indications that Ganesh Godiyal and special invitee in CWC , the highest decision making body of the Congress, also in close proximity to Rahul Gandhi is a strong contender for the next chief of Uttarakhand Congress.
