The author of twenty five books , all in outstanding english with exceptional vocabularies, the former union state minister, former undersecretary general in UN and Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala MP since 2009 on Congress ticket articulate Shashi Tharoor received the prime minister Narendra Modi in his constituency’s airport after the flight of prime minister got delayed due to the easterly winds and a portion of the Delhi Airport being closed as one of the runways is undergoing renovation/ upgradation.
The jubilant Shashi Tharoor received the prime minister Narendra Modi after eagerly waiting for him for inauguration of Vijhinjam port , a long term project with which Tharoor was keenly associated since beginning.
On X Tharoor wrote after posting pictures with PM receiving him at the Thiruvananthapuram airport writing :
Despite delays at the dysfunctional Delhi airport, managed to land in Thiruvananthapuram in time to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his arrival in my constituency. Looking forward to his officially commissioning Vizhinjam port, a project I have been proud to have been involved with since its inception.
According to various news report the Vijhijam port, the work of which has been formulated at an estimated cost of Rs 8,867 crore is being commissioned today at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi heartily received by Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister of State George Kurian, and Mr Tharoor at the airport.
According to NDTV the commissioning of the port is expected to firmly place Kerala on the global maritime map and transform India’s role in international trade and shipping. After the commissioning of the port, the Prime Minister will go to Andhra Pradesh and lay the foundation stone and dedicate several development projects worth over Rs 58,000 crore in Amaravati.
