PM and president of G 20 Narendra Modi concludes the historic summit with appeal for a final closure virtual meeting of G 20 in December to know about the progress made in commitments made in this summit

After a day long deliberations at the 2nd day summit of G 20 countries with the South African Union joining the conglomeration of twenty countries, the prime minister and the chairman of this year’s G 20 Narendra Modi after presiding over for the last two days, with heads of the states of G 20 nations expressing their views and unanimously passing a declaration, concluded the session with his not so long speech.

During the opening remarks this morning Prime minister Narendra Modi while expressing his jubilation over South African country joining the G 20 conglomeration congratulated it’s chairman and also the Brazilian President for assuming next year’s chairmanship of G. 20 summit.

He said that we have full confidence on TROIKA SPIRIT assuring Brazil of extending his nation’s wholehearted support hoping that the G 20 under his leadership will surely take forward the combined targets of all the nation members. Prime minister Narendra Modi said that he extends his all good wishes to the president of Brazil and his dear Friend Lula De Silva.

Addressing the concluding session after hearing the views of the G 20 Members and head of the states – prime minister Narendra Modi in his concluding address thanked everyone for their pivotal presence and arriving at a consensus on several significant issues concerning all the nations of the world.

He said while Brazil has now become the chairman of G 20 which will hold the next summit in their country but India is still the chairman till December. He suggested and requested that before his term expires in December he would like to ensure that all the G- 20 nations including Union of African Countries shall get together virtually and discuss on various issues of global significance and decision taken or declaration passed etc as to how far we have come forward acting on these important burning issues.

In the morning prime minister Narendra Modi accompanied the US President and several other heads of the states who came to participate at G 20 Summit at Rajghat before attending the G20 Summit at the Mandapam.

Prime minister posted several pictures on X, earlier twitter writing : At the iconic Rajghat, the G 20 family paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi – the beacon of peace, service, compassion and non violence. As diverse nations converge, Gandhiji’s timeless ideals guide our collective vision for a harmonious, inclusive and prosperous global future tweeted PM Modi.

Prime minister full of enthusiasm and energy apart from participating in the G 20 Summit met several head of the states on one to one basis and deliberated on subjects of mutual interests to strengthen the bilateral economic, corporate , defence and cultural relations matters etc.

Annexing the picture of all African leaders when African Union was formed prime minister expressed his euphoria over the inclusion of South African Union ( a conglomeration of 55 African nations with a population of 130 crores) in G. 20. The prime minister tweeted : The inclusion of African Union in G 20 underscores the pivotal role in the Global progress. We stand ready to further collaborate and boost our shared aspirations. We will keep working for global well being tweeted PM.

The G 20 Summit started on 9 th September at the Mandapam af Pragati Maid and with global leaders Of US, UK, European Union, France, Canada, Germany, China, Russia, Australia, Argentina, Oman, USE, Saudi Arabia, Comoros, Sudan, Bangladesh, ( not G. 20 member) , Mauritius, heads of World Bank, Asian Development Bank, IMF etc etc participating in it.

In the opening session of the G 20 Summit the prime minister after welcoming everyone, first of all accorded the G 20 Membership to the South African Union amid cheers and all round applause and thereafter announced about handing over the Gavel of G 20 to his Brazilian counterpart for next year after December to take charge as the new president of G 20.

The greatest achievement of this summit was the unanimous, adoption of the joint declaration . Emphasising on “today’s era should not be war”, the New Delhi declaration of Group 20 countries on Saturday called on all states to uphold the principles of global rules and regulations ( laws) that include the territorial integrity and sovereignty saying that the peaceful resolution of the conflicts as well as diplomacy and dialogues are critical.

The signing of an agreement ( MOU) by United States, India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union for establishing / constructing an impressive India, Middle East, Europe economic corridor, a counter initiative to China’s over ambitious one road one belt initiative given the term of game changer in terms of regional investment by US President Joe Biden.

This economic corridor of rail and shipping links aims to bolster trade between India, European countries, middle East nations and modern days spice route to bind regions with a country for one thirds of the economy of the world.

The announcement by the United Kingdom prime minister Rishi Sunak for providing 2 Billion dollars to the Green Climate Fund for developing countries to conveniently cope with the situation is highly laudable amd can be termed as a good G 20 achievement.

The prime minister today met the prime minister of Netherlands Mark Rutte, President of Brazil Mr. Lula, European Union president Vonderleyan , European Union president Charles Michel, president of Korean Republic K. R. Yoon Sun, German Head of State Olof Scholz, Mr. R. T. Erdogan, president Turkey, president African Union P R Azali, Canadian President Justin Trudeau, France President Emmanuel Macron etc. He met the other dignitaries a day earlier which included the US president Joe Biden and other head of states.

The United States President Joe Biden cut short his stay at the Summit after paying his tributes at Gandhi Martyrdom today leaving for Vietnam for his important pre decided engagements.
