PCI holding a protest n discussion at its premises on 22 nd July over latest Snoopgate
The Press Club of India, having an active membership of nearly five thousand journalists, working in print and electronics media, has while expressing its serious concern over the latest “Snoopgate’’ expose in which Pegasus spyware was reportedly used to “snoop’’ on Indian journalists, activists, ministers, Parliamentarians and members of judiciary, is organising a protest meeting and discussion at PCI premises on Thursday 23 rd July at 3 PM.
According to the president of Press Club of India Umakant Lakhera , the PCI is organising a protest and discussion on the sensational expose to bring out full implications of the “Snoopgate’’ which has snowballed into a major controversy.
As many as 40 journalists are also on the list whose phones were put under surveillance. The PCI has already demanded a Parliament-mandated high level, time bound inquiry into the entire affair which according to it is an expose that allegedly revealed that illegal, secret surveillance was mounted via victims’ phones.
He said that top journalists and editors including victims of “illigal snoopgate” will present their personal experience in this protest meeting cum discussion.
He appealed for the pivotal presence of journalists to express their solidarity with the cause.
