Pauri Garhwal women producing Jams with Bedu, a pahadi fruit and selling in market with a fantastic packing

The enlightened women with indigenous entrepreneur ability in Pauri Garhwal district has come forward to become entrepreneurs of future by tightening their belts and exhibiting their potential by way of preparing and producing delicious jams with herbal medicinal values and selling them in open market as packed braded jams produced out of “Bedu” mountainous fruit also known as Pahadee Anjeer. According to a renowned journalist Suresh Bhatt :
In Uttarakhand, the hill fruit “Bedu” which strengthens the economy of women is now going to make its own identity in the country.
Bedu is also known as hill fig.
Women are preparing jam and chutney from bedu in the bedu unit under the Gramothan (REAP) project in Pauri Garhwal district. There is a good demand for it in the market, which is why Bedu’s product is now going to get the GI Tag. Local women buy Bedu from the villagers at the rate of Rs. 50 per kg due to which products like jam, chutney etc are prepared from Bedu pulp.
According to District Project Manager Gramo Utthan (REAP) Pauri Kuldeep Singh Bisht by getting GI tag to Bedu product, Bedu will get national identity said Suresh Bhatt, News Nation on his social media post X.
