A part of the roof in Gokul Puri metro railway station has come down as a result it has injured some and damaged bikes parked downstairs. This happened today morning at 11.00 AM. A video by a passer by have gone viral in social media showing the damaged bike and the rubbles of the roof falling down posing risk to the commuters downstairs and the passengers of metro though there is no news of anybody being injured severely. But the way the roof ceiling crumbled, there is definitely usage of sub standard material while the roof was built etc. There are already reports about the services in Metro stations allegedly deteriorating especially after the retirement of its first founder chairman Mr. Shreedharan. In majority of the metro stations only one or two counters are open for ticket delivery with senior citizens suffering. The cleanliness in metro station has also deteriorated including trains looking dirty from outside and also railway stations, its railing, escalators etc compared to the cleanliness during the tenure of Mr. Shreedharan. The metro stations need cleanliness as before, cleaning of floors, railings, escalators including opening of all counters to enable women and senior citizens easy delivery of tickets. All the metro stations should be maintained on international standards to avoid recurrence of roof crumbling incidents as happened at Gokul Puri Railway station. Beware Metro administration.
