The prominent Bollywood director of Pareeneeta and several other art movies Pradeep Sarkar had breathed his last on 24 th March, at 3 . 30 AM at the age of 68 after prolonged illness, being on dialysis and his potassium level coming down drastically sending shock waves in Bollywood.
Being on dialysis suffering from Kidney ailment Sarkar’s condition deteriorated and was rushed to hospital where he breathed his last on early morning of 24 th March.
Having directed several box office hits like Pareeneta, (2005) being his debut film was awarded with prestigious filmfare and national film awards. He also directed box office several other hits like lafange, Parinde, Mardaani, laaga Chunri me Daag, Dabba Gull etc apart from good number of advertisement films.
A multidimensional film maker, director Pradeep Sarkar was popularly and affectionately known as Dada ( elder brother in Bengali dialect) in Bollywood.
The All India Patrakaar Lekhakh Sangh has expressed its deepest condolences on the sad demise of the legendary film director of several art films. Its chairman Dayanand Vats while expressing his heartfelt tributes said that his passing away has left a deep void in Indian film industry difficult to be filled ever.
He was a great director and a thorough gentleman whose absence would be felt badly said Dayanand Vats, journalist and writer.
Actress Neetu Chandra while confirming the death of her respectable director said that Pradeep Sarkar was her first director when she worked in an advertisement of footwear while in college.
She expressed her deepest condolences saying that it’s a great loss for the fraternity. The legendary director would be consigned to flames at 4 in the evening at Shantacruz crematorium bidding him final adieu. The entire film industry is shell shocked on hearing the sad news early morning while they woke up.
