Our civilisation survived because of element of spiritualism and culture

By Arun Joshi, veteran journalist

In the whole world India is the only country where people worship nature, planets, space, Air , fire, water, earth. We worship rivers and trees. Our great scriptures like Vedas Upanishads Brahman Granth Aranyak are infact great poetries scripted in the praise of nature and universal bodies like sun moon and other planets. Our rivers are considered as pious and taking a dip in those rivers is a way of salvation. Like every year since our marriage today my wife worshiped the Banyan tree for my and family’s well being. It is known as Vat Savitri. This is an ancient religious and cultural and spiritual tradition There is a story that woman who was known as Savitri brought back her husband from the jaws of Yamaraj the god of death.
There is question that why most ancient Indian civilization still survives in many dimensions while other civilisation like Egyptian Nile river, Roman, Greek,Mesapotamia, Dazala Farat, Maya and Inka civilization got lost into deberis of times. Our civilization survived because of element of Spiritualism and culture and most important factor was our most intellectual scriptures which made our religion still survived. Other civilisation lost because they believed in Power attack and wars to rule the world to spread their boundaries. But contradictory to this we believed in spreading Spiritualism with love and brotherhood with tolerence. Our religions be it Hinduism Buddhism or Jainism crossed the boundaries with knowledge full scriptures and debates. The Indians ruled south east Asia in Malaysia Indonesia Combodia with our great religious cultural and spiritual stories carried by traders. And so Buddhism spread in the world including China by Jataka tales.
India is a country of colossus diversity in tradition and language and in may sphears but what unites us is our great culture and religious spiritual element. But if we deviate and choose the path as chosen by aforesaid civilization we will be lost in debris of times.
