Opposition presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha condemns ED for defaming opposition leaders !
The senior opposition leader and the presidential candidate who lost to the BJP led NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu, Yashwant Sinha today came out in support of the interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi who was called by the Enforcement directorate for interrogation in connection with the National Herald money laundering case.
There have been several protests by Congress leaders and workers in Delhi and several states of the country with Congress workers courting arrests in protest against the alleged harrasment of the Nehru Gandhi family trio Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka. Through two tweets today the opposition presidential candidate and former union minister Yashwant Sinha strongly condemned the action of ED to defame opposition leaders. He tweeted : I strongly condemn the attitude of ED to humiliate political leaders. The officers of ED should have gone to her residence even if they had questions to ask of Sonia Gandhi. Citing the instance of the infamous Jain Hawala case when the CBI officers went to the house of those named in FIR in 1995, Yashwant Singh continued with another tweet writing : For those who are ignorant, let me state that in the infamous Hawala case of 1995, the CBI had gone to the house of those named in the FIR asking them questions tweeted the former union minister.
It may be recalled that Sonia Gandhi who had been summoned on 21 st July by ED was earlier issued notice for 8 th July but while she was admitted in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital due to Corona n other complications therefore the date was shifted to 21 July. Earlier Rahul Gandhi was interrogated thread bare for several days and Priyanka Gandhi only for one day. On Thursday Priyanka Gandhi had accompanied her mother to the ED office as she used to accompany Rahul Gandhi earlier. However, due to Sonia Gandhi’s not so good health Priyanka was allowed to stay in a separate room with medicines. Sonia was also allowed to take rest as and when she felt like. An ambulance was also stationed at the ED office in the event of any eventuality/ medical emergency. Meanwhile, hundreds of Congress workers today stopped trains in Delhi and courted arrests raising slogans against ED n BJP led NDA government in Delhi and several state capitals of the country.
