Opinion polls giving edge to both Congress and BJP with no clear cut one sided decision in Uttarakhand, making both parties jubilant. Some say Congress winning, some say BJP repeating ?
Though there are only two days left for the counting and subsequent declaration of poll results, in Uttarakhand there have been mixed results of various poll surveys conducted on March 7, with Congress and BJP being shown as winners. What is interesting about these surveys is, in majority of the opinion polls the Congress n BJP have been shown as neck to neck contestents but in News 24 – Chanakya opinion poll the ruling saffron party has been given majority seats viz 43 seats and Congress merely 24 with AAP getting nil and independents getting 2 to 4 triumphs. Even India TV and CNX survey have given BJP 35 to 43 seats with Congress getting merely 24 to 32 seats. However, despite these two and other surveys giving edge to BJP, there is no need for Congress to feel demoralised as several surveys have given Congress party a clear cut lead in Uttarakhand. For instance the ABP – C Voter survey gave Congress 32 to 38 seats whereas BJP only 26 to 32 followed by DB Live prediction making Congressmen extremely jubilant giving it massive victory of 40 to 46 seats with BJP lagging far behind getting only 22 to 28 seats. However, the Times now Veto survey made BJP Victoria giving it 37 seats against Congress party’s 31. Similarly in another survey of Deshbandhu, the Congress party is shown as a major victor bagging 40 to 46 seats and BJP merely getting 22 to 28 seats with AAP bagging 0 to 2 seats. The India News and Jan survey again gave BJP an edge over Congress securing 32 to 41 seats against Congress party’s 27 to 35 seats. What is interesting here that Zee News channel considered to be soft towards BJP usually termed as the saffron party’s voice is giving Congress party an edge over BJP by giving it 35 to 40 seats and BJP 26 to 30. Similarly another news channel TV 9 is making Congress victorious giving it 33 to 35 seats with AAP getting 0 to 3 and independents two seats. Similarly the News X exit poll, an English news channel gives Congress a slight edge over BJP giving it 33 to 35 seats with BJP getting 31 to 33 seats with three to AAP and two to independents. Conclusively, all these surveys unambiguously reflect that the voters seems to be confused and the news channels and opinion poll bodies not able come to a definite conclusion, showing mixed results, some giving edge to BJP and some to Congress.
