Octogenarian Gaunli Devi killed by man eater in Bageshwar district. Villagers terrified !

The dreaded incidents of man eater kills are going on unabatedly in Uttarakhand with human beings especially household women, aged n young and children becoming their easy prey. Just two days ago a child nearly eight years old was brutally killed in Dhaijuli Patti and last week a woman coming back home at Dugadda after seeing off her son to an inter college at Dugadda, Pauri Garhwal whose multilated bodies were found in the jungle. At Corbett national park highway a young man was dragged by a man eater while he was sitting on the back seat of running motorbike, whose separate hand was found in the jungle and other parts of the body elsewhere. As a sequel to these ongoing human kills by predators in various parts of Kumaon and Garhwal divisions with forest and wild life department literary a mere spectator, an eighty year old woman was dragged to the nearby forests by another man eater in Bageshwar district’s Kaafligair Tehsil. According to news pouring in an octogenarian woman got up early morning to attend to the nature’s call. As soon as she opened her door, it is believed that an man eater clandestinely on prowl for human flesh pounced on her n dragged the hapless old lady to the nearby agricultural fields / jungle. When the women Gauli Devi wife of Dhan Singh of the village went to their farmlands for daily work they found the badly mutilated body parts, especially the head of the old woman. The head of the woman was located near her house and rest of the injured mutilated body a kilometre away said the news. The villagers were shocked and terrorised on hearing the news. The villagers found the head some distance away from the house of the dead woman and rest of the body a kilometre away. An FIR was lodged and the villagers along with the local police n forest department officials planned to search the man eater so that he does not harm other villagers. The SDM and other senior officers of forest department are fixing the iron cages to trap the man eater as he is a great rusk to human beings in the area having already killed good number of domestic animals say the traumatic villagers.

  1. Scary scary. However Uttarakhand has to bear with these tragedies due to its rich biodiversity especially the exotic rare wildlife species coexisting with humans in the Himalayan belt
