No justice to bereaved family of late Ankita Bhandari but CM names a nursing college in her name !
The daughter of Uttarakhand and the country Ankita Bhandari was brutally killed on 18 th September last year when her dead body with multiple wounds was found in the Chilla Barrage, Rishikesh after being allegedly killed in Vanantara resort in Yamkeshwar.
The case pertaining to late Ankita Bhandari is under process being heard in Kotdwar sessions Court in district Pauri Garhwal.
A special leave petition is also under hearing in Supreme Court of India filed by social activist and journalist from Pauri Ashutosh NEGI via the senior Supreme Court advocate Colin Gonsalves, a human right activist too, demanding CBI probe to go into the depth of the case and to ascertain about the VIP who wad the main person allegedly asking for Ankita’s services.
The bereaved parents of the deceased have been running from pillar to post for justice and have complained about their government counsel allegedly hobnobbing with the culprits demanding change of the present counsel.
The poor parents after losing their only daughter who was earning for the sustenance of their family, was serving in Vanantara resort as a receptionist on a meagre salary of Rs 10000 per month.
However, the owner of the resort Pulkit Arya, (whose father was a BJP activist and minister of state rank holder including his another son, the vice chairman of State OBC commission ) compelled Ankita to offer herself to a certain VIP, which she boldly refused. This angered Pulkit Arya who in collusion with a manager of the resort Bhaskar and Ankit first allegedly physically and sexually assaulted her and then threw her into the river at Rishikesh leading to her death.
The BJP high command fearing severe consequences political and otherwise expelled both father of the culprit and brother from the party and arrested the three culprits, who are presently behind bars and appearing at Kotdwar Sessions Court on every hearing but the bereaved parents of the deceased girl are constantly complaining about the culprits enjoying all facilities and privileges allegedly threatening them etc.
There had been several demonstrations and protests in the state demanding stringent action against the culprits and CBI investigations in the case to maintain transparency, but of no avail.
The opposition Congress says that since the culprits were in BJP earlier and there were every attempt to demolish the Vanantara resort arbitrarily by the Yamkeshwar MLA including the state government not recommending for an impartial and transparent CBI probe despite so much of protests by cross section of the people, including by the state Congress , it seems that the state government wants to liquidate the issue.
Now, the case is being exploited politically by both Congress and BJP while it is in the Court of law. While, the Congress party has in the recent past organised a mobilisation campaign in Pauri Garhwal district demanding CBI probe in this case and expeditious justice to the bereaved family, the chief minister of Uttarakhand has named the Rajkiya Nursing College situated at Shrikot, Garhwal in the name of Ankita Bhandari. The point is will this really serve the purpose ask people.
