NIGAMBODH GHAT SUBMERGED IN YAMUNA WATERS BREACHING DANGER MARK. ALL ACTIVITIES STOPPED .

The national capital ‘sain crematorium where the majority community take their deceased relatives, near and dear ones fof consigning to flames amid offering of rituals is today submerged in the overflowing Yamuna as the river breached the danger mark for the fifth time. The human settlements on the bank of the Yamuna river with several shops have been fully submerged in the over flooding water after the doors of Hathnikund barrage were opened by the Haryana government. As a result of the river overflowing and Nigambodh Ghat being submerged in Yamuna waters all the activities and rituals including burning of the dead bodies have been stopped completely till the gushing river water recedes. In view of the overflowing Yamuna while the lives of hundreds of family has been adversely affected by being displaced and evacuated , according to the Delhi government’s revenue department about 850 people have been taken to alternate shelters like tents while more than two thousand affected persons have been ferried to thirteen permanent shelters where they are being provided food, medicines and other things. People were seen carrying their house hold articles and other necessary belongings in their heads crossing the Yamuna after being submerged knee deep. The Delhi government has set up relief camps at thirty eight locations in the national capital where 522 tents have been fixed to houses the displaced persons who include wimen, men, children and old aged. According to the latest reports from shopkeepers in Majnu-ka-Tila to families in Madanpur Khadar, Jaitpur, and Badarpur, many have been displaced and forced to relocate to
makeshift shelters, hoping for the waters to recede. The Geeta Colony Shamshan Ghat has also been closed as the Yamuna water entered there tremendously.
