New body of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha has larger responsibilities ! Will they really work removing the Sale wala from Bhawan through legal means ?
Now since the new body led by Surat Singh Rawat as president and Pawan Maithani as general Secretary has triumphed in the Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha elections, the biggest representative body of Garhwalies in the national capital and the NCT formed in 1923 by our ancestors in Quetta , Pakistan then an undivided India has new responsibilities to fulfil including the old ones the prime being ” ousting the Sale Wala from the premises of Garhwal Bhawan, the demand being raised by one and all since the last several decades and always being the main agenda during the GHS elections.
Since the Sale wala was brought in Garhwal Bhawan during the tenure of Dwivediji as president in return of some alleged funds used in the development of the Garhwal Bhawan , since then except playing politics on this issue nothing favourable has come out, except number of panels winning and leaving with no progress on this front except money of the Sabha wasted on counsels from time time amounting in several lakhs but the outcome being to square one. Now since the previous body led by Ajay Singh Bisht as president who had done several good works as claimed by him but couldn’t capitalise the vote bank earning the wrath of voters on several fronts this losing the elections, the present body of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha has greater responsibility to work credibly on the front of fighting the case against Salewala ( Gupta) ensuring the vacation of the premises being their first and foremost priority, we hope.
The Surat Singh Rawat’s panel should hire the best of the lawyers for this case as all the previous attempts of decades have proved to be completely futile and time consuming with lakhs and lakhs of fund of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha going wasted for no good of the Garhwal Bhawan.
We know that the earlier committees especially the one who brought Sale wala in have committed lot of blunders but despite all this, had the legal persuasion executed in the concerned court with dexterity by now the Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha would have achieved success but unfortunately the matter is being delayed and delayed with no hope in sight and electorates never accorded the latest clear picture of the case as to how far or near we are in achieving the success ?
Therefore now the entire onus of this case is on the shoulders of present panel who had from horses mouth assured the electorates of GHS to get the Bhawan vacated during the election campaigning saying that if they don’t succeed they will not fight the election ever.
This statement was given by none other than the incumbent president Surat Singh Rawat.
Kindly recall that both Surat Singh Rawat and Pawan Maithani had earlier represented the Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha before Ajay Bisht taking charge as president and general secretary.
It was during their tenure that they have passed a resolution, and amended the constitution snatching the right of contesting on main posts restricting it to contest first for the post of executive committee membership. This decision is being opposed by one and all terming it as unconstitutional.
Majority of the life members of Garhwal Hiteshini Sabha are of the strong opinion that this decision need to be changed immediately by bringing another resolution revoking it including restricting the term of Garhwal Hitheshini Sabha to two years as before instead of three years which was passed by the previous committee taking advantage of the Covid crisis.
The membership of the Sabha as per the direction of the court should be fulfilled by enrolling three hundred members.
The Garhwal Bhawan premises should be used for marriages and social functions at very reasonable rates with the sole aim to help those who can’t afford much during the marriages of their wards as this is purely a social organisation not a commercial one.
We are not running GHS for meeting the profit but to serve the people of our community.
The Garhwal Bhawan and its halls including the guest house should be renovated , painted in order to give a fascinating look.
And above all two rooms should be given at very very nominal rates to people coming from Garhwal for the treatment of their family members or relatives in Delhi.
The other activities like encouraging the morale of the meritorious students, students from poor families and scholarships to outstanding students should continue as usual rather on a more good scale with less significance to be given to commercial cultural activities as in my opinion excess of such activities leads to other important issues for in the background.
