Mumtaz turns 75. Was gifted a latest model Marcedes and precious ornaments by her entrepreneur husband Mayur
The most popular star of Indian silver screen doing maximum super duper hit movies with the first and original superstar of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna, creating frenzy among her millions of fans during the seventies as was Kaka a most sought after hero, Mumtaz’s 75 birthday was celebrated by her industrialist husband based in Uganda Mayur Madhvani throwing a simple party and having dinner with her n two daughters Tanya and Natasha Madhvani after a long gap presenting Mumtaz a latest model Mercedes and some precious jewels.
This was disclosed by the most popular actress of seventies Mumtaz in an interview to a channel. Mumtaz was in Mumbai sone months ago after a long spell and had good time with his previous co stars meeting their families in a cordial atmosphere giving interviews to several newspapers n TV channels happily remembering her old golden days. She had been to the house of veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra, meeting his, wife and family having good time. She had also been to the residence of her old co star Shatrughan Sinha and several other stars with whom she had acted during her hey days in Mumbai. In one of her interviews she narrated the reminiscences of her old golden days of seventies saying how she was pronounced as Motti by co stars Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna she being fatty.
She had also narrated an incident of a shooting of Roti when in a scene she was lifted by Rajesh Khanna in snow at Kashmir on his shoulders. There were ten takes of this scene and, Kaka had to call him “Aaja Motti”, before lifting her on her shoulders. Mumtaj went on sabbatical for 13 long years after her marriage with Mr. Mayur Madhwani in 1974 , an entrepreneur of repute in Uganda. She was born on 31 st July 1947 and has turned 75 two day before. Mumtaz was the most successful glamorous actor in sixties and seventies having worked in several super duper movies especially with Rajesh Khanna and other stars like Dara Singh, Devanand, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, etc. Sone of her hit movies were Do Raaste, 1969 , Bandhan, 1969, Admi aur Insaan, 1969, Saccha Jhoota, 1970, Khilona, 1970, Tere Mere Sapne, 1971, Hate Rama, Hate Krishna, 1971, Loafer, 1973, Prem Kahani, 1975, Roti, Jheel ke us Paar, 1973, Chor Machaye Shor, 1974, Nahin, 1976. Mumtaz was brought to films by the one time top free style wrestler turned actor producer Dara Singh. Extremely happy with her husband Mayur Madhvani a millionaire Ugandan businessman also settled in London, Mumtaz had a bad period in her life when she suffered for cancer finally cured after a protracted treatment. Mumtaz still continues with her dance practice and is fit and healthy after coming out of dreaded cancer. One of her daughter is married to the actor son of Firoz Khan. Mumtaz had specially flown to Mumbai in 2012 to meet Kaka , her pet co star in several super duper hit movies during sixties and seventies when he was ill, and counting his last days at Ashirvad. Both of them shared their memorable days as co stars and Mumtaz was terribly shocked on the sad demise of Kaka. In a running chat with her fans on Instagram Mumtaz answered questions posed by them of her hey days of more than four decades ago when she was on her top as a renowned heroine having co starred with Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Devanand etc. Looking quite relaxed n thanking her fans she said she was to marry Shammi Kapoor a handsome actor but refused his proposal as she was mere 17 then and want to see her film career blossomed than marrying him. She added that she can still dance if given opportunity in films but can’t fly like Jackie Shroff’s son actor. Lauding Mahesh Bhatt’s, daughter Alia Bhatt as her most like heroine Mumtaz is working in Bhansali’s film Heera Mandi, terming him as one of the best directors of Bollywood intelligent and capable who make heroines fairy in his movies. Remembering her old days Mumtaz said we were all friends when she worked with Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra and Devanand etc saying those were really the golden days.
