Few days, ago she went to Dharmendra’s bungalow in Mumbai with her sister and met him, his first wife Prakash Kaur and son Sunny Deol and interacted for three hours, reminiscing her old days of sixties, seventies and eighties in Mumbai film industry. Mumtaz as a leading actress had a hectically active period in Bollywood from 1958 to 1977 though her last role was in Andhiyan in 1990.
Yesterday Mumtaz went to meet Saira Bano at her Bungalow to express her condolences and part her concern and anguish on acount of the sad demise of veteran super star Yusuf Khan aka Dilip Kumar.
Mumtaz waited for sone time but could not meet Saira Bano as she was not keeping good health n sleeping inside.
When Dilip Sahab’s wife Saira Bano came to know about Mumtaz’s visit she called back to Mumtaz and expressed her apologies saying that she was convalescing because of her ill health.
It may be recalled that after the sad demise of veteran actor Dilip Kumar Saira Bano who loved him the most and took special care of him for the last several years is, still in immense shock trying to come back from the trauma.
Mumtaz who could not meet Saira Bano while speaking to her over phone, said, never mind I will meet you shortly since I am still in Mumbai.
Mumtaz is meeting her old colleagues while in Mumbai. She had met Jackie Shroff and several other stars of her time who include producers and directors as well.
In an interview to Etimes while responding to her daughter Tanya’s question whether she misses her old acting days in films, Mumtaz said , though she do not miss acting after saying good bye to films years ago, her last movie being in 1990 titled ANDHIYAN, after a little pause said, she definitely miss her co stars, heroes, directors and producers especially Dharmendra, Sunil Dutt and Rajesh Khanna who had been quite friendly and courteous to her and had tremendous respected for actresses.
She had said how Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna used to call me “Motti” ( a fat woman). She had acted with Dharmendra in two films namely Jheel Ke Us Paar and loafer and with the first super star of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna in over ten movies, all of which had been super duper hits during seventies n eighties.
When Rajesh Khanna was suffering from liver cancer she had specially come from London to meet him at his famous Bungalow Ashirvad and discussed their old experiences as co stars reminiscing the old Bollywood days. She was shocked when Kaka died and wept endlessly, but felt satisfied that at least she was able to meet and interact with him before his sad demise.
Mumtaz too suffered from Breast cancer but finally won over the dreaded disease. It may be recalled that the free style international wrestler turned actor Dara Singh gave Mumtaz break in Bollywood films for the very first time.
Mumtaz was the highest paid actress during seventies n eighties counted as a sex symbol who married a Ugandan top businessman Mayur Madhvani finally settled in London with her two daughters Natasha and Tanya. Natasha is married to late actor Firoz Khan’s, son actor Fardeen Khan.
Feeling extremely delighted to meet his co actress of the sixties Mumtaz at his bungalow, veteran actor Dharmendra felt very good and said that we should meet again. Remembering his old days and feeling anguished losing friends n co stars like Devanand, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna n Vinod Khanna etc the one time He man super star Dharmendra felt need to meet again and again as life is uncertain . He said to Mumtaz we should meet again.
The contemporary legendary actresses wanted to meet each other but Saira wasn’t keeping well. We wish them a long life.
