MP and chairman Bar Council of India Manan Kumar Mishra demands SIT from Orrisa CM to bring the murderers of sr.advocate Panda to justice immediately

The Rajya Sabha member of Parliament and member of the Bar Council of India Manan Kumar Mishra has strongly condemned the brutal murder of the senior advocate of Orissa Pitabas Panda and urged the Orissa chief minister of Mohan Charan Majhi to immediately institute the Special Investigation Task Force to execute the in-depth probe into this tragedy to bring the culprits to justice at the earliest. In a video message the MP and Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra said that this is an attack on the rule of law. We urge Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi and the Odisha government to take immediate action. I strongly condemn the brutal murder of Shri Pitabas Panda, Member of Odisha State Bar Council.”

Reiterating our call for an SIT investigation and swift arrest of all perpetrators, Mr. Manam Mishra demanded the harshest punishment, speedy trial and full witness protection, immediate ex gratia to the family and the Advocates Protection Act!,” in his video message.

It may be recalled that Panda was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne miscreants in full public glare near his residence in Berhampur on Monday night.

According to reports, Panda left his room in Park Street around 9.40 pm on Monday and was heading home on his scooter.

He was barely 50 metres away from his residence in Brahma Nagar under Baidyanathpur police limits when two bike-borne miscreants fired two rounds at him from close range, targeting his chest.

He tried to run for his life, but collapsed after covering a few meters. Locals picked him up and took him on a bike to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur. However, doctors declared him brought dead.
