Mother IN LAW AT Agastyamuni, Rudraprayag fights a man eater leopard to save her daughter in law !
There are lot of stories about bride and mother in law – quarrels and dowry demand related incidents but you must not have heard about a sixty two year old mother in law risking her life and fighting the carnivore maneater leopard , saving the life of her daughter in law.
In Uttarakhand everyone is well aware that tragic deadly incidents of man eaters attacking the human beings and killing them brutally, especially women working in agricultural farms, children going to school or senior citizens commuting on roadside have become order of the day.
There have been several tragic instances of man eaters entering roadside houses or those near jungles and literally grabbing the children playing or women from their house compounds and dragging them several metres away in nearby bushes or jungles finally leaving the mutilated bodies, behind.
In one such instance in Rudraprayag Agastyamuni family of a village – 62 year old brave mother in law saved her daughter in law by literally fighting with the man eater who had attacked after pouncing on her daughter in law.
Though the daughter in law Punam Devi, who was attacked by the man eater leopard is safe and sound but her mother in law who bravely fought with the leopard was injured in the head and other parts of the body.
Fighting a leopard in a attacking mode taking away from him its prey is no easy task which requires lot of gumption and bravery as exhibited by the mother in law of Punam, Janki Devi of Agatyamuni, Rudraprayag. Salutes to her.
