Mock drill at Haridwar turns into a heart wrenching tragedy

Sometimes mock drill becomes disastrous and this has happened today at the Haridwar Mansadevi temple mountain site where a rehearsal to control fire ” MOCK DRILL” turned into a reality and the agencies involved in this practice confronted the real dangerous situation resulting in three persons literally immolated in fire severely who were desperately ferried to the nearby hospital and rendered adequate burn treatment with two being freed after the first and the third in view of the serious condition being referred to higher centre.
According to the latest news report the local administration involving all the concerned agencies have organised a mock drill to counter the fire in the Mansa Devi Temple precincts in the mountain surrounded by forests.
Obviously since it was a mock drill the fire was created and the employees of the forest or concerned departments were involved in the fire fighting operation but unfortunately while the disaster management teams’ three members were busy countering the fire they got injured.
As a result the disaster management team rescued all the three victims and took them to the nearby hospital where two of the burnt employees were rendered first aid and sent home while the third severely injured with burns was referred to higher centre where the health department was on alert mode.
The fire was so widespread that a joint team of National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, police and forest department brought it under control in about one hour and forty-five minutes.
