Ministry of Health and family welfare approves Rs. 35, 25 and 15 lakhs for severely ailing CGHS beneficiaries requiring transplants of Heart and lungs, Heart, lungs

There is a good news for severely ill serving and retired government servants particularly those ailing with severely heart and lungs diseases needing urgent heart and lungs transplant. These treatments are highly expenses and beyond the reach of an ailing person. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under central government has via its office memorandum of dated 1 st December, 2023 officially fixed guidelines and ceiling rates for lung transplant and heart transplant surgery for the government employees serving and retired entitled as CGHS / CS/{ MA} beneficiaries. The office memorandum states that the Union health and family welfare ministry has issued formal guidelines and ceiling rates for the lung and heart transplant in consultations with the Directorate General of Central Government Health Scheme and Health Services. The Competent Authority has approved the ceiling rates for surgery and Lungs transplant Rs. 25 Lakhs, for heart transplant Rs 15 lakhs and heart and lungs transplant Rs 35 lakhs. The Government has constituted credible Standing Committees for consideration of requests for heart, lungs or combine- lungs and heart transplants. The CGHS/ CS/{ MA} beneficiaries if suffering from such critical ailments and requiring the above transplants etc would be fully entitled to seek these monetary benefit to meet the expenses involved in these critical transplants which will go directly from the government to the hospitals concerned as per the established norms and guidelines of union ministry of health and family welfare.
