Meeting with union home minister gives credence to speculations of former Punjab CM joining BJP?

After being unceremoniously ousted from the post of chief minister of Punjab seeking his resignation by the Congress high command, exasperated veteran Congress leader 79 year old captain Amrinder Singh met the Union home minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi giving credence to speculation that he may join the saffron party in the near future.

Though, after publicly speaking against scions of the Nehru Gandhi family Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi and also against the interim president Sonia Gandhi who asked him to tender resignation saying sorry, unceremoniously exited Captain who ruled as CM of Punjab for 9.5 years, had said that he would remain in the party, keeping his options open.

Extremely, envious and angry with his bete noire Navjyot Singh Sidhu pledging, not to let him become the Punjab CM ever, captain Amarinder Singh’s meeting with union home minister Amit Shah, a day after Sidhu’s resignation as state Congress chief unambiguously speaks of the fact that captain has now almost made up his mind to join BJP, especially after the Punjab Congress having become a ridiculous party with several factions and captain shown the door denigrating his reputation to dust despite his tremendous contribution to party and standing solidly with the Nehru Gandhi family during the thick and thin in his protracted political career of last forty years.

However, according to the Raveen Thukral, media advisor to captain Amarinder Singh, the meeting with the home minister lasted for fifty minutes and the points discussed were regarding the ongoing farmers agitation in which the former CM urged upon to withdraw the three farm laws and guarantee minimum support prices as being demanded by the agitating farmers.

Meanwhile, in a tweet in Hindi the former chief minister Amrinder Singh who officially vacated Kapurthala house in Delhi meeting the Punjab Police personal on guards shaking hands with them and giving them last adieu, wrote a day ago : Satya Pareshan ho sakta hai parajit nahi/ Truth can be troubled but can’t be defeated.

After meeting union home minister he tweeted : Thank you, Amit Shahji for let me hear my inner soul’s voice.

Meanwhile senior journalist Swati Chaturvedi tweeted on his meeting with union home minister : Captain Amarinder Singh has almost crossed the Rubicon. Sources tell me that he demanded President’s rule in Punjab at his meeting with Amit Shah and claimed that people with him support this.

In another tweet journalist Aditya Raj Kaul tweeted : Captain Amarinder Singh’s meeting with Amit Shah seems to be the beginning of a new political story but for now a lot of speculation on whether Singh can get the farmers protests at the various borders of New Delhi ended amicably, How? When? Let’s wait and watch tweeted journalist Aditya Raj Kaul.

Majority of responses to Captain’s meetings with Amit Shah and tweets speculate his joining the BJP in the near future whereas political analysts say that Punjab being a majority Sikh dominated state and BJP a Hindu Party, with his main opponent SAD already severing links with BJP on farmers issue, captain Amarinder Singh will never risk his political credibility as a true secular and pro farmer Congressman despite being insulted by its high command by joining BJP after earning so much of name, popularity, prestige and reputation as a clean and blotless politician making Congress win in Punjab even in 2017 assembly election and in 2019 general elections from Punjab despite massive Modi wave.

Criticizing the Bhartiya Janata Party, Congress general secretary and spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said that prime minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah are taking revenge from Congress by taking advantage of the ongoing Punjab crisis. Gunning his, tirade against BJP, Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted in Hindi : Amit Shahji and Modi are jealous of us and taking revenge on Punjab issue because they have been unsuccessful in using the three anti farmers bills to fulfill the vested interest of their capitalist friends till now. The anti farmers mission of BJP will never succed tweeted Surjewala.

In another tweet Surjewala wrote : The residence of the home minister has become the nucleus of anti Dalit politics as the kingmakers of BJP have been hurt because Congress has appointed a Dalit CM in Punjab. They are not able to see n tolerate the Dalit having been made the CM of Punjab tweeted Congress spokesman Surjewala.
