Meeting in progress with Sonia Gandhi after Sidhu n Harish Rawat called by Congress president

After the declaration of the name of Punjab chief minister Captain Arvinder Singh’s rival Navjyot Singh Sindhu by Harish Rawat, the incharge of Punjab affairs n national general secretary Harish Rawat yesterday quoting the party high command having allegedly taken the decision, several groups of the former and latter ( Captain n Sidhu) raised their objections with meetings if various groups taking place in Punjab with Captain Singh meeting 20 MLAs n ministers and Sidhu meeting four ministers etc This led to Congress president Sonia Gandhi summoning Navjyot Singh Sidhu and Harish Rawat at her official residence 10 Janpath today where the meeting is currently in progress. There are reports that the name of Navjyot Singh Sidhu may be officially declared today with Captain Amrinder Singh to be the next CM of Punjab with the ensuing state elections to be fought under the present chief minister. According to sources despite the earlier news about Punjab incharge Harish Rawat about the truce reached between both the warring factions of Punjab led by Captain Amrinder Singh and Navjyot Singh Sidhu with the name of the latter finalised as state president despite reservations from the chief minister, the factionalism still exists in the party strongly objecting to the finalisation of the name of Sidhu as the state president. Even Manish Tiwari, the senior Congress leader , supporting Punjab CM n allegedly opposing Sidhu name as Punjab Congress president favouring a non Sikh n hindu for the top slot of the organisation has tweeted in hindi : Baraabari saamjik nyay ki buniyaad hai, Punjab mein Sikh 57.75 feesadi, hindu 38.49, Dalit ( Hindi n Singh) 31.97 %. ( Equality is the foundation of social justice, in Punjab, Sikhs are 57.75% , Hindus in 38.49% n Dalits ( hindu n Sikhs) in 31.97% . This tweet is being construed to have been posted in favour of the president to be from the Hindu community. The ongoing high volatage drama between the rival camps of Captain Amrinder Singh having the support of maximum MLAs n ministers with Sindhu being supported by a lesser powerful group of four ministers n few MLAs has reached to such an extent that the national Congress president Sonia Gandhi has to intervene calling Navjyot Singh Sidhu and Harish Rawat at 10 Janpath to reach at a final decision to put an end to the ongoing high voltage drama in Punjab coming to the fore with excessive media hype badly affecting the party’s, image n reputation, especially when the elections are round the corner. Meanwhile huge hoardings declaring Sidhu as their president have already been put up in various parts of Punjab n it’s capital Chandigarh irking the rival camps of Captain Amrinder Singh.
