Massive fire due to short circuit and then explosion of the gas cylinders erupted in Kumbh sector 19, Prayagaraj, no human loss
A massive fire broke down today evening at the Geeta Press Camp in Kumbh area at Prayagaraj though no casualty has been reported.
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath visited the entire destroyed site at Sector 19 where few has cylinders are reported to have been exploded after short circuit.
There are reports of fifteen shops and about forty temporary Jhuggis being completely burnt, though the situation has now been brought under control.
Though the material loss has been massive but there hasn’t been any human loss. After the fire broke out the police, SDRF etc all the people present in the camp / tent area were evacuated immediately in order to avoid the human loss which fortunately wasn’t witnessed with all being safe though the material loss may be immense.
The SDRF and fire fighting vehicles of UP government have played a vital role in distinguishing the fire.
All the Akharaas are safe and secure. The fire broke out in the Geeta Press Gorakhpur tents.
The police is trying to ascertain the definite reason behind this massive fire. The short circuit is the main reason behind this fire especially after few gas cylinders caught fire.
The chief minister Yogi Adityanath has reached the spot and is deliberating with the senior officers to ensure that no future occurrences of such fires take place. The firefighting vehicles and other fire extinguishing materials are busy in extinguishing the fire which has now been brought under total control with not human loss. The extent of damage will be calculated after some time.
According to the latest news the Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak informed that a team of officials from the government and the health department are present at the site to extend assistance to saints and devotees at Maha Kumbh. “The government is also keeping a close watch on the entire incident. The situation is completely under control,” he said in a post on X in Hindi.
The Maha Kumbh 2025 official X handle posted, “Very sad! The fire incident at #MahaKumbh has shocked everyone. The administration is ensuring immediate relief and rescue operations. We pray Maa Ganga for everyone’s safety”.
The grand Maha Kumbh 2025 began on January 13, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima. So far, over 7.72 crore devotees have participated in the sacred Hindu festival by taking the holy dip. According to officials, more than 46.95 lakh devotees did the ‘snan’ (holy dip) on Sunday itself.
