The ISSF , Commonwealth and Asian Games Gold Medal winner in shooting who suffered a great setback in the Tokyo Olympics due to her pistol being stucked due to malfunction, an outstanding shooter in ten metres air pistol- Manu Bhaker trained by international shooting champion Jaspal Rana has today clinched the first bronze medal for India raising the prestige of our nation’s tricolour high.

MANU BHAKER shot 221.7 in the final to take the honour of being the first India Woman athelete to win the Bronze medal in shooting. The Gold winner coming first in the compitition is South Korean Oh Ye Jin securing World Olympics record with 243.2 points. The second winner receiving the silver medal is again a Korean Ki Yejin securing 241.3 points. Commenting on her resounding victory securing the Bronze medal , the first by any Indian Woman athelete in Paris Olympics thrilled Manu Bhaker saud : India deserves many more medals. As many as possible. The feeling is really surreal, it takes a lot of effort. In the last shot, I was fighting with all the energy I had. Maybe I can get better in the next (event). I was doing what I was supposed to do. After Tokyo, I was very disappointed. It took me a long time to get over that.

As soon as the qualification was over, I didn’t know how things were going to be.

We have worked hard. We have to leave the rest to destiny and God. We will do as much as we can. It is a very good feeling.

Thank you so much for sticking by me (to all the friends, relatives and well-wishers!). It is for them that I am standing here strong.
