Maharashtra speaker says : no split in NCP, it’s still a single unit.

The Maharashtra political crisis still exists, despite the rebel NCP leader Ajit Pawar been sworn in as deputy CM and eight MLAs sworn as ministers though their portfolios not decided till date. The Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar on whose shoulders depend the fate of the defected MLAs has also clarified that till now he hasn’t received any credible list of MLAs either from the NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar or rebel leader Ajit Pawar who had claimed in front of media regarding forty MLAs authoritatively backing him. Talking to media he catagorically stated that NCP still is a single unit in the Maharashtra assembly as he has not received any letter of support or opposition from any NCP leader claiming support of fixed number of MLAs with them. He however, did acknowledged several petitions on which he will take appropriate action. He said, currently the Nationalist Congress Party is a single unit for him and as a speaker he is following all the requisite guidelines and regulations to maintain the dignity of his position. He was responding to the queries of Times Now. Kindly recall that till yesterday after being sworn in as deputy CM and his eight Maharashtra lawmakers having been inducted as ministers, the NCP rebel leader Ajit Pawar has revealed in front of the media that he has the concrete support of 40 MLAs backing him who had accorded their signed consent. The newly appointed party president and daughter of Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule who is considered to be the main reason behind the split in NCP has yesterday only expelled Ajit Pawar and a the 8 MLAs from the primary member ship of the party, including a, seasoned leader of NCP, former union minister and close confident of her father since several decades Praful Patel. He was also the working president of NCP. However, not committing the blunder as former CM and Shiv Sena leader Thakrey did by expelling all defected lawmakers from SHIV SENA Sharad Pawar has given a call to all the rebel MLAs to return back into party fold , being family members. There are reports that two MLAs leaving the then eight NCP MLAs sworn in as ministers, present at the time of Ajit Pawar’s swearing in ceremony have now come back to Sharad Pawar’s camp having posted their pictures with their leader in their Twitter handle namely Makrand Patil and Balasaheb Patil. Sources reveal that another MLA Amol Kolhe has also assured to return back to his camp with few other MLAs namely Anil Deshmukh, former HM, Maharashtra, Jitendra, Awadh, Jayant Patil, Rohit Pawar, Sandeep Kshirsagar, and Mr. Tarpure posting their pics with Sharad Pawar in Twitter expressing their trust to their leader. Several MLAs have also submitted their affidavits assuring of their unstinted support to their veteran leader Mr. Sharad Pawar. However, according to the statement of the speaker Mr. Narvekar there is no official split in the party as he had not received any letter of support authenticating the signatures of the MLAs as claimed by Ajit Pawar, the deputy CM of Maharashtra. The Sharad Pawar camp is busy trying to amicably convince the MLAs who have gone with Ajit Pawar to return back without any hitch or reluctance who will be welcomed with open arms further saying that Ajit Pawar has only the support of Eight MLAs amd none. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar camp’s prestige is at stake and they will leave no stone unturned to fulfil the two third majority out of the total strength of 53 NCP MLAs. A day before some news reports said that while Ajit Pawar has the support of 40 MLAs , Sharad Pawar has only 15 MLAs with him. However, after the speaker’s statement to media about the NCP being a single unit in Maharashtra, assembly till now denying about any split, the major responsibility primarily lies on his shoulders to prove whether Ajit Pawar group really commands the support of two third majority to avoid the sword of action under the anti defection law. Some news analysts say that as the case of anti defection law applicability in case of the Maharashtra CM Shinde has not been decided till date despite the Apex Court’s directions, what is the guarantee that it will transparently come to its logical conclusion in the present case of opportunistic defection by Ajit Pawar n his 8 MLAs from NCP claiming himself to be the leader of the largest group with the support of 40 MLAs. Some news report also reveal that some of the MLAs owing allegiance to Pawar group has said that they were made to sign on some other pretexts, not aware about the latest development in offing, going against their leader Sharad Pawar.
